I actually don't have any issues with what he said. Maybe that's bc I think all the new stories I've read suck (except Ahsoka), and have no interest in the Resistance era. I don't think he was taking shots at fans like some of the other Disney/Lucasfilm people have.

Matt's a good follow on Twitter. His position is always that people should just enjoy what they want about the franchise and not get hung up on what they don't like about it. Seems to be a pretty common perspective for the Lucasfilm folks.

I value "canon" more than he does, but I imagine it's a survival thing. Imagine being him, constantly barraged by angry fanboys demanding to know why this was changed from the EU, or how to reconcile an event from a junior novel against something from a comic book.

They don't have any control over it, is the thing. Those guys only advise. When they explain (made up example) to one of JJ's guys how hyperspace works, then JJ decides to have the Falcon jump from inside a ship or "lightspeed skip" anyway, there's nothing Matt, Pablo, etc. can do about it except try and explain around it.
