That's a good idea. Wish they would have done something like that for the lines at Six Flags in Arlington when I was kid.

A two hour line in the Anaheim sun is a galaxy far far away from a two hour line in the Orlando sun...

The pictures do look amazing, but you need to photoshop 40,000 people into each shot to get a realistic idea of the view.

Don't know if this has been posted here about Star Wars Land yet.....but my wife was telling me that when it opens Friday in California that they are putting a 4 hour limit on Park antedees to try and control crowds.

Apparently your band that gets you on and off rides is supposed to do something as soon as you hit the 4 hour mark and storm troopers will escort you out of the area

An idea that sounds sucky on the surface but when you think about seems better than zero crowd control af all when you know this park will be at full capacity and not allow anyone in for a whole day if you're not there at rope drop.

I'm still wondering what kind of stuff they'll implement at Orlando. They've said they're not gonna do reservations like Disneyland, and they haven't announced any time limits.

So I'm just driving over early in the morning to try to be there at rope drop. (And hope I can get in.)

I've already told my family we have to be at HS an hour prior to park opening.

My Disney-nut travel agent confirmed no reservations at this point, but that by my trip to WDW during Thanksgiving, that may have changed. I'm going to presume no reservations until something more concrete is announced.

My annual pass has "magic hours" in certain parks. (ie extra hours before or after regular hours)

I'm thinking I may have to take advantage of those for GE.

This is really making me rethink how long I'm going to wait before going

Hopefully school days won't be too crowded in 2020

Will probably wait a few years before we go. Plus (and I'm not sure how they work) I'm going to buy the most exclusive pass you can get. Is that doable or is there some kind of points system here like A&M season tickets?

As far as I've seen, they're identical.

Which is actually disappointing, with all the space Disney has in Orlando. I made a post a few weeks ago saying how they could've easily built an entire theme park for Star Wars in Orlando.

Sure, it would've cost a lot more and taken a lot longer, but they'd have a fifth park and sell a hell of a lot more tickets. (Instead of just more tickets at Hollywood Studios.)

Personally, I think the SW brand is definitely popular enough to have warranted it.

Plus, they could have taken a page out of the Magic Kingdom and had themed lands throughout the park, with each land being set on its own planet. (ie. Batuu, Tatooine, Coruscant, etc.)

Though I should mention that they are building a Star Wars themed hotel, which is said to be a fully immersive experience, in way that's never been seen before. So that should be cool.

The parks are identical. There isn't much room in Anaheim, but there is some.

The only difference that I am aware of is not really related to Galaxy's Edge, but in that Disneyland is mostly 1 self-contained park (with another park called California Adventure). GE is located inside what is called Disneyland, the park. I don't expect that GE in Disneyland is any smaller than the similar location in Orlando, which is in Hollywood Studios.

On the exclusive pass - I'm not really familiar with anything like that. There is a thing called a signature plus passport , which entitles you access to the parks any day of the year, and it is not cheap. (Actually, nothing at Disney is cheap - dropping nearly $8K not including air transportation to go to WDW later this year). I don't know of any points system.

Interesting. I had it in my head that the Orlando version was its own separate park.

I will wait for the themed hotel and book early enough so we don't end up in the Trash Compactor room!

Wow! You must really like your kids! It would just be two of us.

Since this is all supposedly canon it makes sense they're identical I guess, plus it probably required a ton more planning and effort as a result, thus taking away the ability to do a multi-planet park in Florida

We'll be at WDW the week after GE opens, with our 3 kids. I have a feeling that we'll be spending way too much money inside GE.

This is always what I point to as why Disney beats out all other theme park out there, especially Six Flags.

The roller coasters themselves may be awesome, but the immersion and attention to detail at Disney parks is unrivaled. The queue is a huge part of it, especially when you're a kid.

Only Universal can rival them in that regard. (Especially with the Harry Potter land. I'm not even a fan and I was amazed by it.)

So I'm really trying to decide if I should build lightsaber when I'm there in 2 weeks. For one, I know the line to do it is going to be insanely long and I don't want spend my entire reservation waiting. Also, I'm going without my Star Wars-loving 9 year old, so I think I should wait until we go together. But all these videos are making me want to build one now. This time around my plan is to build a droid, hopefully pilot the Falcon, and get a drink at the cantina, if I can. Either way, I'm going to be broke when I get back.

My family had been trying to avoid Galaxy's Edge for our upcoming trip to WDW. Based upon Disney's own announced timelines it appeared that it would open in Florida some time late fall. So we scheduled our trip for late Sept trying to stay as far away from GE as possible while still taking advantage of Free Dining and not baking in the late Aug/Early Sept sun. Plus we are working around A&M home game dates, as any good Ag should do!

Well imagine our surprise when Disney announced that it was opening at the end of August! We were watching their announcement of GE at Disneyland's opening and were shocked when they also announced the opening of the one at WDW as well.

My wife was initially horrified by this turn of events however, we were committed since we had just booked airfare. Now we are planning to go into GE when we go in Sept and have already made peace with having to be at the park by 5:00 am since they are adding extra extra magic hours and are opening at 6:00 am.

We're excited now but a bit concerned about what crowds will look like. I'm hoping crowds in GE will only be bad but bearable not the shoot me now type! We had given thought to just skipping GE even though it was open to avoid the crowds. However, when we mentioned that to our kids we got the death stare so we figured perhaps we shouldn't risk being smothered in our sleep. Instead we'll risk the possibility of feeling like sardines!

Think of it this way. You'll have much shorter lines in the rest of Hollywood Studios.

That's what we keep telling ourselves!

In all seriousness I think (well I have to check with my event planner to be sure, aka Wife) we're going into HS two days. Once for GE and the other for anything else we miss which we would normally not do at that park. It's our hope the GE is a black hole that sucks all the people in and leaves the rest of the park mostly empty!

It could go either way, I could see the spillover crowd having a dramatic impact on the rest of the park.
