Starting to think this whole film/script is a commentary on Star Wars fandom. Think about it.

Knights of Ren are a cult of Vader worshippers/fanboys that play dress-up and collect relics.

Han Solo is the older Star Wars fan that is sitting down the young kids and explaining what it used to be like in the old days. "It's true. All of it."

But it's not coming from a place of cynicism or criticism, it's coming from a place of love and fandom.

I wonder how prevalent this will be in the actual movie.

So, does it not stand to reason that he just wants the weapon that originally belonged to Anakin?

I thought that it had been known for a long time that a crystal was a major component of a lightsaber? I am pretty sure one was needed to construct a lightsaber in Star Wars Galaxies, which came out over a decade ago. I know that was just a game (an awesome one, at that, until SOE royally screwed it up), but I could've sworn I had know about that from somewhere else.

Perhaps "I'm going to finish what you started" was him saying he's going to attempt to get Luke Skywalker to turn to the Dark Side, and then teach him the ways of the Force in earnest?

Yeah, but before a lot of what we knew came from the nerds that read the books. They pretty much threw all that out the window though. So everything we "know" now has to come from the movies, a handful of new books and comics that have released recently, and a couple "cartoon" TV shows.

Clone Wars is cannon. I'm pretty sure they did an episode or two on light sabers and their crystals.

why? Vader wanted to do it because it was his son.
Kylo probably thinks he can do it all by himself (arrogant). He probably means hunting down any remaining Jedi (including Luke).

Maybe we find out why Kylo needs the lightsaber when he fights Finn. Finn is completely outmatched, but Kylo's wannabe light saber sparks and fizzles as soon as it touches the real deal!

I dunno man... I got a good feel for the sequence of the movie and its main locations, but the who/what/when/where/why I'm pretty clueless on. As far as I know Luke could have turned into a crazy cat lady and defeats Kylo with his army of feline's to save the day... right before we fade to familiar space credits and music we see Luke with his friend saying, "who's a good kitty!"

I'm pretty sure the crystals are in the Knights of the Old Republic game, too.

watch the end of the trailer, you see Finn going from confident to 'oh ****' when he sees the red saber ignite. I'm thinking up until that point, he was battling other types of force staffs successfully but hasn't encountered a real sith saber yet.

I just found this screenshot of Luke with two young characters who have yet to be identified.

So maybe Finn is actually the son of Chewie and Leia from when Chewie would escort her on diplomatic missions.. and she.. you know.. experimented. And maybe Chewie, when you shave all the hair, is actually a black man.

Otherwise, I'm having a hard time believing any combination of characters could produce a child that dark skinned.

Finn and Rey definitely aren't brother and sister. I'd say one of these relationships is almost assuredly in play, though...

- Rey and Kylo are brother/sister and/or twins
- Rey and Kylo are cousins.
- Rey is the daughter of Han and Leia.
- Rey is the daughter of either Han or Leia (not both - as in Han and Leia each found other partners at some point).
- Rey is Luke's daughter.
- Kylo is the son of Han and Leia.
- Kylo is the son of either Han or Leia (not both).
- Kylo is the son of Luke.

The way Rey's staff and Kylo's lightsaber are positioned in the final poster tells me they're either related or intertwined somehow. My ultimate guess, based on no evidence whatsoever, is that Kylo is the son of Han and Leia, and Rey's lineage isn't revealed until Episode VIII, and it's something we haven't thought of yet / is more mysterious, but potentially connected to the Skywalkers in some way, shape or form. There's also one other character in the movie I think might be related to one of the original three, but I don't want to speculate here because if true, it'd be a major twist.

Any chance one of these characters was "conceived" by the force? I'm pretty sure that crap is being left for the prequels.

But definitely no coincidence at all that Rey's staff and Kylo's saber line up perfectly in the poster... also no coincidence JJ so far has shown Rey to be nothing other than a scavenger and the only hint of Jedi is from Finn. We aren't dumb JJ... just tell us already.... just kidding, thanks for not telling us........ jerk!

Just have R2-D2 roll up and show them holograms of Anakin complaining about not liking sand and blubbering about leaving his mom behind and those guys will start committing mass suicides; war won.

After the last trailer I don't think there is any question that she is the Luke Skywalker of this trilogy. Still she doesn't have to be an actual Skywalker kid to fill that role.

Please no more midichlorians BS. Let's leave that behind. Also, please no more Force existential discussions like the Mortis arc from TCW....

I'm betting he's alluding to Gleeson's character... which I think could be Luke's son.

What's the point of posting that when I purposely avoided doing so?

That's on me. I shouldn't have even alluded to anything. That said, it's a pretty big long shot...

I was just spitballing... it slightly makes sense if you look at the two and would be an interesting twist.... but agree that it is not very likely
