but what if JJ tries to be a little TOO different here, and there's no Long time Ago, or space crawl? What if he drops us right into action ala Into Darkness, or the space crawl comes 5 minutes in?

People would riot in the streets. Dogs and cats living together; mass hysteria.
JJ already said one of the moments he most loved about making the movie was hearing Williams' end credits music, which "starts as it always does" and then goes through all the new themes.

Let's talk theater lines...
I have tickets to a 3:55pm showing on the 18th at the Bullock Museum in Austin. How early do y'all think I should show up? An hour? Two hours? I wish I was headed to a midnight showing, but I couldn't swing it.

Hm. Saturday, lots of kids and families out, I'd give it at least 90 minutes to be safe. Depends on how many seats you need to grab. If it's just you, I'd say 90 minutes, if it's more, definitely at least two hours.
Reserved seating is the best. I could show up 15 mins before showtime and be safe. But I'm getting there a good hour and a half early just to take in the whole experience.
There'll be a lot more non-reserved showtimes starting at the same time, so lot of nerds will be lining up. Hoping to see some costumes and grab some pictures.

90 minutes is about what I was thinking. I might do 2 hours just to be safe. I'm meeting my sister-in-law and her husband but I don't really care if we sit together. I like them well enough but I probably like Star Wars more.
The only opening of a film that ever came even a little bit close to Star Wars...

My plan is to roll into my reserved seats about 10 minutes before the trailers get going.
I guess Disney isn't going to let them roll out with a vintage 20th Century Fox opening.

I don't know what to think about the IMAX in Fort Worth at the museum. It is a dome screen, and I'm not sure how it works for a real movie like this. I can't imagine trying to follow the movie across the full dome. I might go for my second viewing just for the shear badassery of it all. The sound system there is really good.
