I understand Marvel doesn't have to follow the comics, but I would be surprised if Ant-Man wasn't in the Avengers, he's a pretty big part of them.

I know next to nothing about the comics, so that's good to know. At least there's precedent.

Technically, Hank Pym is the one who invented Ultron. Hank Pym is kind of the other side of the coin of Tony Stark. Hank Pym is obsessed with bringing peace to the world, almost a scientist hippie. Ultron was supposed to help him do that, but Ultron evolved himself to realize that humans had to be eradicated to bring peace to the world. I think they may have been Marvel's original plan but with Ant-Man constantly getting pushed back they changed the script and made Ultron a Tony Stark creation. (He is also a Tony Stark creation in "The Next Avengers" which is an animated film on Netflix that's actually pretty solid.

Sounds like stark creates Vision. Basically a body for JARVIS. That somehow must fit in with the creation of Ultron. Maybe Vision is the emotionless Data to Ultron's Lor.

Rudd comes off as very effeminate on screen (e.g. I Love You Man, Role Models, 40 Year Old Virgin). Is Ant Man supposed to be a more "sensitive" super hero? I admittedly know next to nothing about this character.

Sounds like family will really play into his story, which is quite a change for Marvel, if you think about it. Some potential for some real Tom Jane "I just want my kids back" drama.

How about this theory?

In season 1 of Agents of Shield, they effectively used the series to not only set up Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but they then proceeded to deal with the fallout from the film, which is still ongoing well into season 2.

What if Michael Douglas guest stars in the last 4-5 episodes of season 2 of Agents of Shield taking place before, during and after Age of Ultron? What if, for one of those episodes, there's a major argument between Pym and Stark as to why he should NOT restart the program. "I shut that project down for a reason, Tony!"

Didn't see this anywhere, so I'll post it here. It might make sense to cross-post to the MCU thread as well. Can't vouch for the validity of the site/rumors. Interesting stuff to me though (as a non-comic reader fan of the movies).

Pretty spoiler-ish, not just for Ant Man but other MCU title's as well.

So I think there are a few guesses we can determine from just those small shots: 1. Scott Lang gets locked up in prison at some point, 2. Hank Pym still has an old Ant-Man lair/headquarters, and 3. Hope Van Dyne is already a bad ass chick and trains Scott Lang.

Pretty sure Lang isn't Asian. I have a blond-haired, blue-eyed, Texas-born friend with the last name Lang as she's definitely not Asian.
Also Johnny Lang, K.D. Lang, and Fritz Lang. None of them Asian.

Looks like Evangeline Lilly will be training him in fighting. Glad she is getting back into movies.

Also, minus one or two scenes, that was a pretty serious trailer. Kind of curious who the baddie is supposed to be and what the plot is.

It was kinda meh to me. Too much Michael Douglas.

I think its pretty evident this movie will suffer without Edgar Wright

It was pretty meh to me as well. I'm just not that impressed by a man flying around on a tiny ant.

Seeing as how this comes out one month after Avengers 2, it's probably pretty tough to promote it without revealing too much about the fallout of the other movie.

She was just in The Hobbit. Was she ever really out?

She actually got out of acting for several years after Lost. Peter Jackson had to hunt her down apparently to get her into the Hobbit by contacting her husband.

I'm looking forward to it. Mostly a basic introduction of the concept between Hank Pym and Scott Lang, and a focus on the father/daughter relationships that they will no doubt have mirrored between each other in the film.

I really liked the trailer outside of the music, didn't think the music worked. And as others have said, the big thing about this movie is the effect that Avengers 2 will have on it, which gives them an issue of essentially revealing nothing major about the plot.

Also not much power demonstration obviously, that will come in the next two trailers once all the VFX get worked in.

Two things:

1) that trailer doesnt give me any sense of who Rudd's character is. I have no idea why I am watching this film other than a dude proposes that another dude wear a shrinking suit.

2) wtf does this have to do with Avengers/Thanos/InfinityGems? This movie has the feeling its just a filler to make fanboys happy. (Oh look 20 secs after the credits to tie it together...)

That trailer did absolutely nothing for me. Is it just me? Not a good trailer, IMO.

How does this not tie into who Scott Lang is? Also, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, and Thor for the most part didn't have much of anything to do with the Infinity Stones either, not sure why you'd think this would? But, as I said earlier, it has been confirmed by Marvel Studios that this film is heavily affected by the events of Avengers 2, which is why there isn't much story elements to it. If you know a little about Hank Pym and Scott Lang, it should have a lot to do with the Avengers. Also, Hank Pym was a colleague of Howard Stark in the MCU, and essentially hates the Starks, and is a founder of the original Avengers, which I think could open up some very cool possibilities for the MCU in TV and Netflix.

Also, this is a teaser trailer, what exactly did you think you were going to see besides what you did see?

Scott Lang? I have no idea who the f-ck that is, and based on the trailer, I still have no idea who that is.

And yes, I fully expect marvel movies (ESPECIALLY LESSER KNOWN HEROES) to play some role in the universe building toward the Thanos confrontation. Sure major heroes have their movie deals, they have their own franchises whatever. But even in those you have significant things happening toward the overall story. CA2, shield is gone, what are the implications of Earths defense now: avengers alone. Thor 2? The aether. Ironman 2-3? War machine and stark's inability to function, now we will see the prototypes confiscated by ultron. Gotg is all about an infinity stone, hell it finally connects dots with the teasers of other heroes (Thanos, collector, and explaining the infinity stones).

I already said Ant-Man will play a role in the Universe building, but more of the earth-based Avengers stuff, not the cosmic infinity stone stuff. Again, this is all known or confirmed one way or the other, it just isn't shown in the first teaser trailer. I agree the trailer isn't great, and maybe I just like it more because I know more about Ant-Man/Wasp and their roles in the Avengers, but I think it's fine for a teaser.

If you want to see how it ties in, check the link in my post a few above this one. It's a broad look at Ant-Man's tie-ins to MCU PH3, and it's got some spoilers, so be aware.
