Patiently waiting. Not a peep yet. WB must have pretty tight lid on this thing.

Drew McWeeny, one of the most well-regarded and prominent online critics out there, also just retweeted the Kim tweet above. Suffice to say he loved it as well. Hopefully we'll hear an embargo date soon. Though, a lot of times, when the studios know it'll be good buzz, they'll allow twitter reactions early. My guess is that happens in the next day or so with this one...

Sounds good. Looking forward to it.

My friends and I were able to get some free advanced screening passes this past weekend at Comicpalooza. We are going to try to see it on June 4th (assuming that they do not fill up first)

Just FYI, reviews/tweets/impression likely won't be a part of that embargo. That one's only for the set visit reports, which were conducted well over a year and a half ago, during filming, and are just now being released. Though, WB could chose to allow critics to start tweeting their impressions of the movie at the same time, but my guess is they at least wait 'til after the second LA press screening later today.

You're probably right, TCTTS, but I'll take anything at this point.

Good to hear that it won't suck. With trailer editing being so good these days, I tend to have such high hopes for most movies.

If this movie ends up being a huge success, both from the box office and critically, who do you guys see getting most of the credit? Will everyone praise Nolan and forget that Zack Snyder directed this movie? I just wonder if this will be an Empire Strikes Back situation where the director is kind of an afterthought.
Simplebay

Snyder for impressive visuals, but Nolan will get more of the credit initially.

And he will, in classy fashion, direct most of the praise towards Snyder.
Aggies76
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I sure hope that Snyder gets the credit for this... it's his movie. He's been maligned for his recent work, but Man of Steel may be his career best.

The on-set interview with Goyer, released today, is fantastic. Speaking to whole who-will-get-the-most-credit issue, one of the main take-aways from the interview is that Nolan was WAY more involved than previously thought. Which is phenomenal news.

(And just FYI, again, this interview was conducted over a year-and-a-half ago, but just released today.)

quote:
"From that point onward, Chris and I then started doing what we do on the Batman films. We use index cards for the movie. So that’s about a two-month process. Chris and I do really extensive index cards and we meet usually three times a week and we just do board after board after board of index cards where Chris and I beat everything out. Then I went and wrote a treatment and then I started writing and that was the movie."

quote:
"I mean, first it was me and Chris and then it’s been me, Chris, and Zack, but I’ll be honest, I thought once Chris started shooting The Dark Knight Rises, that that would be the last we’d heard of Chris until they wrapped. But, I’ve been on the phone with Chris a shocking amount given the fact that he’s shooting that other movie. I mean, sometimes a couple of times a week he’ll be on the set talking to me. He’s very much continues to be involved almost on a daily basis, much to his dismay. I mean, because it’s killing him. He’ll be relieved when that movie stops filming."

Really, the entire interview is full of cool info, and just an awesome read all around. There are also a couple other interviews, one with Zack Snyder, and another with Henry Cavill, all from the set. Some great, great stuff in these, which has somehow made me even more excited for June 14th...

Sh*t we keep hearing from Man of Steel screenings. WB is gonna make so much cash they're gonna use $100 bills for dog toilet paper.

Mike Sampson ‏@mjsamps
Feedback I've heard from numerous people is "very good but not great."
TCTTS

Also, it looks like the review embargo doesn't lift until Monday, June 10th. WB could always move the date up, and certain reviewers will no-doubt break embargo, but the vast majority of reviews likely won't hit until late that Sunday night. As for tweets, apparently everyone at these press screenings had to sign NDAs, and people definitely seem to be keeping their mouths shut for now (or tweeting cryptically, as you can see). But studios will usually allow twitter impressions a few days before reviews are officially out, so hopefully we'll start hearing some official reactions soon. Not to mention, it looks like non-press screenings start this Tuesday, and there's no way WB will be able to keep all those reactions quiet.

Honestly....press screenings for massive movies are usually like this. Did u see the tweets of TDKR press screenings?

Rest my case. Wouldn't read too much into Best Comic Book Movie OmgEvar

Except that a couple of these type reactions are from level-headed critics whose opinions I've respected, agreed with and valued for years. Trust me, I know how overblown impressions can be from early screenings. There's an excitement to seeing it first that sometimes out-shines a movie's flaws. Totally get that. But even with TDKR, immediately after that first screening, you could tell something was off. Yes, there were fanboy-types saying it was the greatest thing ever, but there were also quite a few somewhat negative reactions as well. With MoS, at least as of now, there hasn't been a single even remotely negative reaction yet. Not one. There's a rare kind of buzz for this one I can't remember hearing/feeling since Inception, if not The Dark Knight itself. Will it be the greatest superhero movie or summer blockbuster ever? Probably not. But there's definitely something to the buzz so far that we haven't had in a long, long time.
