It has to do with Leona will owe money. Not that she wants to keep them.

Alison Pill makes me hate the show. Her character is annoying and her acting even more so. Time to kill her off.

Yeah, we really struggle with her. Everything about her seems uncomfortable from her face, to her brown teeth, to the goofy way she walks, to her non-existent eyebrows to her general just awkwardness.

I enjoyed the conclusion of the "Operation Genoa" story line, but there were so many BS Sorkin coincidences to get to that point that it lost a lot of its impact.

First and foremost, the reason why the rogue EP was even there was utterly unbelievable: Jim's personal life unravels because of a youtube video posted on a random Sex in the City fan blog. In 2011. 7 years after the show stopped running. Yet somehow everyone in Jim and Maggie's life just stumbled upon it.

The other totally unbelievable part of the story is that one of the "sources" was live tweeting his personal account of what was happening in a remote village along the Pakistani border. Never mind that twitter was still a somewhat novel idea in 2009 in the United States where smart phones were fairly commonplace. I'm sure in a remote mountain village there was plenty of cell and data coverage that would allow a villager to try out this up and coming technology during a chemical weapons attack.

And yet to be explained - how did so many sources seem consistent on something that didn't happen. The original panelist told the EP about it. Somehow, the marine with the head injury had the event implanted in his memory. TBI's cause memory loss, not "inception" of memory of non-events. The general off-handedly confirmed it. The final marine thought to be dead could be led into confirming the use of chemical weapons?

And finally, even though journo's may not have the best track record for integrity, what EP for a major new channel would risk his career by "cooking" a taped interview? Opportunistic and slanted edits, possibly, but flat-out making stuff up? Never happen.

No idea where they go next, but will continue to watch despite my better judgment to see to how stupid Sorkin expects us to be.

I didnt find the sex and the city fanblog unbelievable. You have to remember, sex and the city was huge and still is huge. The second movie came out in 2010 and even to this day you can still take a sex and the city tour in NYC. And that doesnt even include fan fiction. People write entire series of books that involve characters in their favorite shows or books. I dont think its all that much of a stretch.

I think you are pretty on target with your other criticisms

I agree with about everything you posted, but for the sake of conversation, I'll play a little devil's advocate here.

As the poster above me said, there's still a really large following to that show.. It wouldn't be unheard of to see a Sex and the City tour going around. Keep in mind, before the revamp, there were still huge lines to tour the 'Dallas' ranch right down the road from me, and that show is closer to 20+ years old.

You'd be surprised that actual data coverage of the world these days. But, this is the hardest point to go against you with; I find it extremely coincidental that the plan "ran out" right in the middle of the attack.

The original panelist told the EP about it.

He heard from someone - it was mentioned how he wanted to make a big name for himself. If he had 'heard' it, then he might as well pass it along to gain some fame...

This is true, but memory loss or regain can sometimes lead to incorrect assumptions. I'm going out on a limb here, but perhaps the private began misconstruing the events of the extraction, and assumed that the WilliePete was Sarin? [Side note - I took that the extraction happened before his injury, right? Somewhat difficult to follow dates in the show]
quote:
The general off-handedly confirmed it.

I think the general confirmed that Sarin still existed in our arsenal, and although not knowing the exact mission details, 'off-handedly' confirmed the US could potentially user Sarin.
quote:

Hmm, this is a good point. Although, Mac did say the final Marine would confirm anything his friend would - whilst offering no new details.

A lot. What politician would send picture of his junk to random women? What pro player would use performance drugs knowing full-while they'd get tested at every turn? What scientist would make up data to 'prove' his results? Happens a lot, sadly.

Like I said at the start, I agree with your post - but it's fun to discuss some of this anyways. Please take this as discussion only and not into a heated debate.

---

But - I do find it a bit...weird?...that the whole Sarin thing has been reported in Syria while at the same time The Newsroom is running this story. I wonder in Season 3/4 they'll return to Sarin in Syria or make it a plotpoint somehow ("We can't report this - we screwed it up once already...").

HBO has offered Sorkin the opportunity to make season 3 and he hasn't decided if he wants to do it. I'll be pretty bummed if he doesn't.

I understand that there is still a following and tour bus devoted to SITC. I thought it too unrealistic that the characters on the show (Don, roommate) would stumble upon a video posted on a SITC blog (from someone with only a few hundred followers).

This was just one of 1000 "coincidences" or blind luck that Sorkin has used to account for sources, events, etc. that I can't stand, yet cannot delete from my DVR list.

The performances of Daniels, Waterston and Don will keep me coming back.

The actor playing Don has actually done a fantastic job for being a relative unknwon and that weird roommate from Loser.

he's had an interesting character arc.

I think Sorkin uses his "schedule" as a reason not to do any additional seasons.

This one never got critical acclaim or popular enough to justify him going further, which is unfortunate.

HBO announcing the end of True Blood today is something of a good sign for its prospects, as they don't have a summer anchor going forward, but my gut tells me Sorkin decides to move on after this year.

Only thru episode 4 of season 2...how did the little boy get shot in the back? Was it when she was carrying him onto the bus? Wasn't she reading to him on the bus?

Loved it. So fascinating watching everything come together.

Well, now we know how the series would have wrapped up if there wasn't a Season 3 on the way.

He's an actor, not in charge. They picked up his option (probably causing the tweet), but that's only a piece of the puzzle. After he went public, HBO had to drop a statement: " “We are excited about proceeding to a Season 3 and are continuing our conversations with Aaron about schedules.”

It's a possibility, but not locked up. HBO is notorious for official pickups for future seasons the day after a season premiere, so something is off here and the is and ts aren't all dotted and crossed.

She wasn't really reading to him on the bus. It seemed to me like it was sort of a montage of what Maggie wished had happened compared to what really happened.

Really loved that ending. Dons line about his game after Sloan kissed him had me rolling

Don and Sloan are the best parts of this show.

Jim has no arc. Maggie is terrible. Mac and Will are arrite

"What I have can't be taught..."

I was laughing so hard I had to pause the episode, I never do that.

I thought the ending was a bit cheesy with Mac and Will but understand they had to give it a place of finality with next season in limbo. I think Season 2 was vastly improved from Season 1. I hope it gets picked up.
