I haven't been this unsure what would happen in a story for a long time...

All I can say is .... wow.

They mentioned this as the biggest twist in Dexter history. I just hope they stop the "family connection" thing. ie - Trinity is Dexter's real father, or Trinity is Rita's first husband, etc,... Rita and the reporter are related, etc,... That is too "soap opera". Besides, we already had one with reporter chick being Trinity's daughter.

The reporter killed Lundy for daddy, and daddy finds out daughter knows all about his murderous past. So Trinity has another family somewhere. Who else could be part of that family?

Trinity has been completely outed by Dexter and Trinity knows Dexter is some kind of killer himself. He says this in the preview, "what kind of man doesn't go to the authorities when he knows about a child abduction." He is on to Dexter as well, me thinks.

I love how Trinity goes to the station where Dexter works. Ballsy!

Trinity finds out Dexter's real name, again, saying "Hello, Dexter Morgan" in the previews. Could another killer discover the secret passeger?

Trinity finds out where Dexter lives. Does he go after Cody? What if Cody ends up killing Trinity, and Dexter teaches him the code?

What if Trinity kidnaps Rita and Dexter has to kill Trinity in front of her, only to find out that Trinity has told her all about his secrets?

There is something going on with Quinn. He still hs a major roll to play in this. His shady past, etc,...

I read an interview with Rita (Julie Benz) and she says "the finale is “shocking”. Also says it changes the show “at its core”. Also reveals unlike previous seasons, they have a cliffhanger this year."

Looks like Lithgow may be back next season, or that Rita or Deb finds out about the dark passenger, or....

Deb has to eventually find out that she is related to Dexter... they've been dangling it for too long. The old CI's keep showing up when she isn't distracted. It will happen.

If Deb finds out about them being related, will she find out about the chainsaw/shipping container thing?

Anything could happen at this point, but I think Trinity has to die for there to be some closure on the season.

Haven't we already met Rita's first husband in the season with Layla?

I may be wrong but I thought Harry just had an affair with Dexter's mom, but wasn't actually Dexter's real father.

Did I miss that?

All this "dark passenger" nonsense is getting a little lame. Why not call it a "secret" or something like a normal person.

You are right. Harry just an affair with Dexter's mom. He is not his real dad. Dexter's real dad was talked about in the first season. His real dad died and Dexter, Rita, Deb and Bryan (the Ice truck killer) went and packed up his house. Whether or not that guy actually turns out to be Dexter's real dad is another story though. I've got it in the back of my mind that Trinity may turn out to be Dexter's dad.

Dexter is Rita's 3rd husband. It's never been revealed who the first one is...........yet.

NOOOOO!!!! Cliffhanger? That's what I've always liked about Dexter, they've always wrapped it up at the end of the season. 9 months is too long to wait for another season.
SnakePliskin
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The cliffhanger could simply be that Deb or Rita (or someone else) finds out about Dexter's "secret", and we have to wait until next season to find out their response.

Yea, spoilers and all that in this post.

I don't think this episode was as good as the last one. Some of it moved slower than I would have liked on bits that I honestly didn't care for. But, on the whole, still a good one. It fills in as a nice spacer, and the next appears to be (ha) quite good as well based on the teaser trailers.

Speaking of which, between that "hello, Dexter Morgan" and him walking through the police department... wow... just wow. Interested to see how they tie all this together.

I think Lithgow has been absolutely great this season. I suspected he'd be very good at this role when it was first announced he was joining the case, but despite my positive expectations, he's still really still blown me away.

I'm interested to see where they go with the reporter now. She's not going to say anything on purpose I don't think. What she might end up claiming, in order to protect Trinity, is fessing up to shooting Lundy for a story. It was nice to see the protection angle being played, I thought before that would have been a nice touch.

Next episode looks like things. Anyhow, dinner time for me.

Best site ever. That's were I get my Dexter and all other premium cable show fixes. Best part of it is that everything is divx so if you're running firefox, you can just pull the file out of your cache folder and you have the episode to keep. I've got a couple of hundred gigs of movies and tv shows off of icefilms.

Cyprian,

they know the reporter chick is related to Trinity (DNA), so they are going to have to press her for what that relationship is. After her little crying episode and panic call to daddy, I think she breaks. She may be a lot of things, but a cold blooded killer, she ain't.
Cyprian

SnakePliskin

That's a good point, and I am sure they will press hard for information from her. But, you can also see how much her father means to her, which gives me some pause. If she is willing to go out of character to kill for her dad, then I don't doubt that she could also pull through for him again (and maybe even take the fall for other crimes if it meant protecting him again?). Though I agree she did appear weak at a few moments, so I could see that possibility. I didn't see the reporter getting caught so quick this episode, so I'm probably off base anyways.

Anyhow, I'd like to know what Trinity is doing in the police station that next episode. He's now extremely interested to find out who this "Kyle" fellow really is. He also appears to be roaming around without an escort, so he's clearly not under arrest either. I think he may finally figure out Dexter's real identity while on that trip, seeing him there or something. But, who knows for sure at this point.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
The previews show trinity going through the phone book checking out the Kyle Butler's in the area and I believe one of them is even mentioned being killed, a message to Dexter that he's after him and knows he isn't really Kyle. With his Daughter is under arrest and him showing at the station with an ID badge, could he be posing as her deacon/councelor from church and just check in on her and keep tabs and just happen to stumble across Dexter??

How did he get around the code and killing beaudrie? I must have missed it.

Beaudry killed a prostitute and got off on a technicality, that's why he was in Lundy's file.

man what a great final scene.

even from the previews and the episode title you know that Trinity is going to find out Dexter's real name and those words are going to be spoken, but the background music, the smug/confident look in Trinity's eyes, the fearful look in Dexter's, all amid the hubbub of the police station where everyone is clueless to what's going on between the two serial killers standing mano-y-mano in the middle...great television.

So I assume Trinity "get's away" from Dexter.

I guess Trinity's son, daughter or wife stop Dexter from his deed. The previews show Dexter injecting Trinity, but then Dexter hitting the turf.

Thus, the cliffhanger we were expecting...
