I thought it was great. Subtle but powerful. This show is really hitting its stride.

The only part that made me chuckle was when the Asst. Coach kicked the Dillon boys out of Sears.

BTW - one of McCoy's buddies that is new this season was a student of mine in Coppell - Parker Christian is his stage name. I don't know what his name on the show is though.

Good episode but lots of weird random filler that I don't think adds much (Glenn, Becky's Dad, etc.)

I thought it was a good episode too but didn't understand why that had that pointless Glenn/Mrs. Taylor story in there. Seemed like they were just wasting time.

The face that she made after Glenn tried to kiss her was classic. My wife tried doing it the rest of the night but couldn't quite get it right.

Looks like they are trying to catch up on the Texas ranching theme. First the fence building and an injury working cows, now it looks like Riggins has it in his idea to buy some property.

Well, duh. You have to liquor her up, and then awkwardly try to kiss her. Then I'm sure you'll get the face.

: E.P. Jason Katims says he hasn’t decided whether the fifth and final season will take place at the beginning of a new school year or pick up where season 4 leaves off. “Typically, we would start closer to the next school year because we generally sort of follow the football season,” he says. “But we haven’t really made a [final decision]. What’s nice about the show is we’ve made slightly different choices from season to season, like coming back with the first game or coming back in the middle of summer. We’ve done a couple of radical time cuts over the course of the series.”

What are the chances of Mike Leach's cameo being cut when the NBC airing comes along? They cut the episodes last season, since the DTV run time without commercials is more flexible than NBC.

It wasn't a key bit, but it was pretty funny. Now that it's not as relevant, I wonder if they'll cut it.
StringerBell

valid point.

they probably will cut it.

Decent episode tonight. Finally get a West Dillon win. Pretty obvious it was going to happen, but still nice to see it.

I continue to be back and forth on whether I think Riggins should be in this season. I get that they have to have him to keep the young female audience tuning in, I think they are just giving him more screen time than the character really needs at this point. He was pretty heavy in this episode. I flip back and forth between liking and hating his storyline-I realized tonight that I'm pretty sure that is related to when Becky is on the screen. Their story line together is pointless. I was thinking the entire character was worthless to the season as a whole, but the previews for next week make it look like they finally found a way to use her. Riggins conflicted about running a chop shop, and showing his dream land was great. Becky being there ruined it.

On the flip side, I think they are underutilizing Luke a little bit. The fall out from his injury looks to build over several episodes, but I expected a little more focus on that story tonight. After bashing the way they wrote him in his first couple of episodes, I think they really managed to nail it down, and he is quickly climbing my list of favorite characters on this show.

Nice to see Julie finally open up a bit too this week. She has been a little more bratty/whiny this season than I would have liked, and especially in the first part of this episode, but she finally redeemed herself a little at the end, and the story provided yet another opportunity for me to ask my wife to "Please be Tami".

Preview for next week was one of the better I've seen all year though.

You mean East Dillon.

And yeah, good episode tonight. Next week looks great.

awesome episode

i had a hard time believing Tami's dream for Julie is to go somewhere as far as Boston College though

i'm also still worried about the upcoming story lines. it made me wonder if we're gonna go back to season 2 type stuff

i loved the theme music during the practice early on in the episode when Tim was attending...something we haven't heard before.

anxiously awaiting what's next...

anyone know if there's a webpage out there with all of the music that they use per episode?

The Becky stuff is really the only thing I don't like about this season. I think part of it is that she's so isolated from the other teenagers on the show so she seems more like an obvious plot device to me. And if her story is going where I've read it might be going, that feeling will only be increased.

I like that they have Tim on the show because I think they need to have a storyline about what happens when you graduate high school and stay in your small town. The series has touched on it some with Billy and the Boosters to an extent, but we've seen it from the back end so to speak after they've been out of school for a while. Now we are seeing one of the characters we care about actually go through that process.

i really dont like tim and becky hooking up. isnt she like 15 or something?

My thoughts are that her upcoming story is actually going to pull her closer to another teen than it is to Riggins...my wife reminded me of an event in the past that I had forgotten about. I'll be disappointed if I'm wrong and they take it the somewhat obvious route based on the preview.

I watched online and missed the preview. Can someone tell me what happened?

I don't remember all of it but 2 big things were 1. Becky panicing after a positive pregnancy test and 2. Coach going to the 'hood to look for Vince and then someone gets shot.

I_bleed_maroon

Yep, the father isn't going to be Riggins. It's gotta be 44's.
Obejuan03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree that Becky may be the weak link on the show, but disagree that Riggins does not add value. Like someone said above, it kind of shows what happens to someone that was a hot shot in high school but just stays around town trying to make ends meet. I know several dudes just like this.

I believe overall that this season has been awesome. I like the focus on Vince, the Landry/Vince/Jess story, and agree that Luke should get a bigger role.
20ag07
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree completely that he adds value and that it is a good storyline to show what happens to the high school hot shot who comes home after not cutting it in college.

I just think he's getting too much screen time, that could be better served developing Vince or Luke, or another character.

Friday Night Lights, which over the last season and a half has seen the departures of nearly all its original young cast, is about to endure another devastating blow. Popular heartthrob Taylor Kitsch, who plays bad boy Tim Riggins, will not be returning next season as a series regular, executive producer Jason Katims tells me exclusively.

Taylor found success on the big screen last year as Gambit alongside Hugh Jackman in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and later this year will appear with Ryan Phillippe in the apartheid drama, "The Bang Bang Club." He is also attached to the sci-fi fantasy film "John Carter of Mars," which is set to start shooting this month. "Because this was a big opportunity for him, we wanted to let him do that," says Katims. "We'll stay in close contact with production and try to get him for as many episodes as possible."

But the show made similar promises about former cast member Adrianne Palicki, who left the series last season to star in a string of upcoming films that have so far ruled out any return appearances.

NBC announced it's return to Fridays in late April, instead of being buried in the summer as originally planned.

Thanks Leno/Conan.
