Possibly. But doesn't Matt only have a couple episodes left on the show? I think that since his Grandma is the main thing keeping him in Dillon, if she dies he could go off and pursue his art career in Chicago.

eric is really showing some fire this year

thought it was sad when his new principle told he wasn't suppose to have taken the job
StringerBell
How long do you want to ignore this user?
yeah that was sad...but also not all that surprising.

adds fuel to the fire that it was basically a blow off offer, but coach taylor took it.

really really liking where this season is headed.

i love this show.

How old is the Coach's daughter in real life now? I have always thought she was so cute, and don't want to feel like a dirty old man anymore for saying that.

Who else felt that what happened between Vince and his thug friend portends something really bad for Luke in the future? I can see a gang-jumping coming on.

it's also too bad that JD turned out to be such a ***** because i actually liked his character

How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's just a subtle way to show the difference in teams before and after the split. JD McCoy was in a position to take on the the persona of whomever was the foundation of the program, Eric Taylor or Wade Aikmen/Joe McCoy. Taylor and his way of doing things are gone, so JD gets to hear this me-first, win at all cost philosophy 24-7.

So the thought that occurs to me is, are the boosters thinking about what happens when JD graduates? Does Joe McCoy hang around, or does he go to tu or tceh with his boy?

Landry Clarke throws like a girl, but he leads the East Dillon Lions in passer rating, efficiency and touchdowns.

I don't watch this show unfortunately but I'm going to try to start because a friend of mine has filmed a couple of episodes and is going into filming next week where his character is going to be featured for another entire episode. Don't want to give away anything especially since I don't watch and couldn't speak too accurately. But keep an eye out for a car thief played by my friend Cedric. He is a Dallas based actor and is very talented.

-great to see buddy garrity pulling everyone together
-i think next week might be the official fairwell to saracen.

I'm actually very surprised they went with the dad. Early outlines on the season said that "a tragedy would change Matt's life", and I just assumed it would be Grandma. I'm glad she was spared.

Next week looks excellent. (Gilford is booked for 7 episodes- next week will be #5. Not sure if the back two will be part of this same arc- or if we will see him turn back up at the end of the season for something like Julie's graduation).

In advance, not sure how I feel about this event being what brings Lyla back to town, as it seems a little forced- did Lyla/Matt ever even share a scene?

This season continues to excel. It's as emotional as last season- it's just a little more of a downer. Last season was emotional, but it tended to be more uplifiting. The character beatdown will make the redemption sweet when it comes...just hate to see everyone struggle so much.

"Give me that. No gun. No gun." was greatness.

Best episode of the season so far, IMO. Saracen hunting with Riggins was great.

I think JD's old man is one an OU booster / alumnus, so it would make sense that JD would go where his father did. That said, it would only make sense that his dad leaves Dillon and the boosters without a star QB and/or wealthy donor, and minus Buddy. That said, I think he's supposed to only be a sophmore, so he's got 3 years...

Great episode... FNL is just greatness each week.

For those who are watching online, I use sidereel.com . It creates lists of links to megavideo and the like to watch various TV shows online. It is good about giving you a couple options to watch.

Wow. Every year they give Gilford an episode where he gets to act his ass off, and every time I say he's as just good as Chandler and Britton are. I think the character has been dragging the overall story down (a little more than Smash/Street's arcs did last year), but the actor deserves this final send off and one last chance to show what he's got. It's too bad the Emmys fail to realize this show exists, because that is the best supporting performance I've seen yet this year.

Nice to see the Lions showing a little success. The JD story is still overdone a little bit, but I'm going to love watching him get what's coming to him, whether it ends up being this season or next.

wow. just wow.

oustanding episode. it's trite to say, because i feel like each weeks tops the last, but this was one of the best yet.

Very good. Very sad. Brought back sad memories of my Grandpa's funeral (WWII Vet).

I liked Matt's speech. He has been my favorite character since the beginning.

I also liked that Coach still calls Landry, Lance.

Also, they are doing a very good job of making J.D. a ******. Kind of a stretch from the shy nerd that he was at first.

What this episode also demonstrates with unerring realism and conviction is the decency and devotion of friends and family in a close-knit community like Dillon.

quote:
Most dramas, even the really good ones, will take you so close to the characters' emotions and no closer, as if they fear the audience will grow uncomfortable if there isn't some distance between themselves and the characters. (Based on the show's microscopic ratings, those other shows are probably, sadly, correct.) But the improvisational, documentary-style aesthetic that Peter Berg created in the film and the series pilot, and that Jason Katims, Jeffrey Reiner and company have continued over the last three-plus seasons, shatters any kind of barrier between viewer and viewee. The actors are encouraged to let everything hang out, to let us feel the fear that Tami might be feeling as she has the sex talk with her daughter, the anticipation and joy that Smash has when he gets the call from Texas A&M, the heartsickness that Eric feels when he tends to his shell-shocked troops at halftime of the Lions' first game.

Most of the actors on the show are great at this (it's no doubt part of why they were cast), but few are better at it than Zach Gilford, who owns every minute of his greatest spotlight to date.

quote:
A lot of shows might have tried to have Eric give Matt a big pep talk, or even to spell out that Matt could always count on him, but the writers here were wise to recognize that nothing Eric could say would have made things even a hair better for Matt right now, and that actions would be more powerful than words.

Also, apparently this breezed right past me, because I didn't even catch it:
quote:
Eric has a Texas A&M game on while he's reading to Gracie, and we learn that while Smash is still coming off the bench
