People who support Trump are going to perceive the motives for his behavior one way, and the rest of us are going to view it another way. You're not going to convince either side that they are wrong. What some see as guts or leadership, others are going to see as the actions of a consummate showman going full Bob Roberts, with no deeper motive than that.

The fact that the Dems tried to assassinate Trump is about the least surprising thing ever. When your idols are Stalin, Hitler, and Mao, this kind of thing is just another bullet point listed in your party platform. All of the left wing nutjobs reading my post right now want to say something back so bad, but they know they can't because their party has just spent the last year trying to imprison their political opposition and rallying in support of Hamas in their quest to eradicate the Jews. Deep down (or not so deep down), they're disappointed that Trump wasn't murdered. Pro tip: when you are disappointed that an opposing political candidate wasn't murdered, you are probably a fascist. And by "probably," I mean "definitely."

I hope he gets reelected and absolutely guts every level of the entire federal bureaucracy beyond all hope of ever growing it back.

Did he self-fund his own campaign to get into office? To think that only one party is capable of corruption seems like blissful ignorance. This isn't anything personal to Trump or Biden. Money changes hands. It's transactional. No one is giving these politicians money out of the goodness of their hearts. It's because they expect them to better, or at least preserve, their interests.
