Ribeye has the best flavor.

But, I'm currently trying to cut down on calories so I've been choosing filets. Still taste great, but about 2/3 the calories...

I've got a really good buddy that posts on AggieYell who cooks a great reverse sear Ribeye on his Kamado Joe. Ribeye's not my favorite, I think a reverse sear is unnecessarily time consuming, and grilling direct over fire is inferior to cast iron. He's got it all perfected and I'm always happy to go to his house on Ribeye night. One thing he gets right is that he knows how to order from the butcher.

Any steak under an inch and 3/4 is just wrong.

Fillet
Strip

Once that strip gets to about 2 inches thick, it can easily slide to number 2.

Ribeye, bone in.

Ribeye at the house or out with friends, filet if part of a surf'n'turf or out with folks I don't know as well.

Huh, no wonder she was complaining about needing to find a new butcher who wasn't so skimpy with the cuts of meat.

Like the argument of whose girlfriend is prettiest (best tasting?), the only way that I can see to settle the argument is to go to the local real butcher shop and buy ten pounds of each type of steak (bet you big talkers can't afford the challenge). You'll find that there's a good reason for the fillet being the most expensive and the strip steak being the cheapest - it's all about the quality! They ALL taste great if prepared properly - it's just what price you're willing to pay.

Ribeye, but only if it's cut about four inches back from the chuck end. Give me heavy star fat and the spinalis with my ribeye!

Ribeye and ONLY a ribeye! Try to feed me anything other than a ribeye and I will toss your kid into a gorilla enclosure.

Strip has the best flavor. Ribeye a close second.

I don't eat steak really.

The guys seem to prefer Ribeyes, so that is what I have been buying.

The only answer is ribeye. Anyone who says filet is a gullible moron who has fallen for "marketing to stupid people" and/or they just don't like flavor when they eat.
