No such thing.
quote:I hope you're sitting down but many times the answer is yes. Ever heard of round steak and chuck steak? As a matter of fact, the "chuck-eye" can be a decent cut of meat. Then there's the "flat iron" steak cut from the shoulder...... Now cutting these after cooking as a roast would be rather dumb......
If I cook me up a pot roast, then slice off a hunk, I've got a steak?

quote:So by this definition, if I were to cook my rib section on a grill, I would cease to have steak, because I didn't cut it first???
You have a very hard time admitting when you are wrong, don't you?
Let me help you out, you are wrong here. When you are eating a serving of prime rib, you are eating ROAST beef, not a steak.
You will NEVER walk into a restaurant, ask for "a steak" and be served prime rib. Never.

What part of my post didn't folks read? I said cutting it off a cooked roast was rather stupid. For the slower of mind around here, I guess I should have added "and it wouldn't be a steak".

"Roasting" can mean cook on open fire, it doesn't only mean to cook in oven.
If you cut the piece off first, but then roast in the oven.. what is it?

Is this what we have reduced to? I blame slicer for putting balsamic and jalapeos on vanilla ice cream.

I said if I cooked a pot roast and cut off a hunk would it be a steak? You said yes.
Now you're saying it wouldn't be a steak.
I has the confuse...
