I am starting to think they will compromise and convict GZ on the manslaughter charge. All to save face. Dude is going to jail.

Has the court room sitting in silence for five minutes to illustrate the amount of time Trayvon was supposedly running from Zimmerman to the time of the gunshot. Using the point to say Trayvon could have easily made it to his uncle's house without a problem, but stuck around to pick a fight.

I think that would get overturned in appeals.

To me he either acted in self defense or he is a murderer.

Actually it's "Presumed innocent until proven guilty."

While innocent may =/= not guilty

Presumed innocent = not guilty

my prediction is manslaughter

I don't disagree, but I think if that happens, it's a travesty.

At this point, I'm thinking 70% not guilty, 20% hung, 10% manslaughter, and 0% murder 2.

Could one of the experts on here explain the legal definition of manslaughter, and how it could be applicable in this case? I always understood manslaughter to imply some level of recklessness of negligence, like someone running over a pedestrian because they were drunk driving, or shooting someone accidently while doing something stupid with a gun.

In this case, GZ is claiming he fired the gun intentionally, in self-defense. I guess my general question is...how can the manslaughter standard be applicable if a jury feels a defendant could have been acting in self-defense. Shouldn't they either find him guilty of murder (not acting in self-defense), or not guilty at all? Maybe the definition of manslaughter is more broad-based than I have understood...

Seems pretty obvious what it's supposed to be. The boy on the left is Emmett Till, a boy who was brutally murdered in Mississippi in the 50's for supposedly flirting with a white woman. The other is obviously Trayvon Martin. The fact that someone thinks there's a legitimate link between the circumstances of their two deaths is just another indictment of the ridiculous race baiting, victim culture that permeates far too much of the population today.
