I moved into a new apartment when I was in college. Parked right in front of it with a hang tag hanging off my rear view mirror. I'm sitting in my living room when I hear a tow truck lift outside of my window. I look outside and they have my truck hooked up.
I run outside and ask them what the hell they are doing. They said I didn't have a permit to park there. I point out my hang tag to them and they said I didn't display it properly. I asked them how else I was supposed to hang it and they shrugged and started getting in their truck. I went and stood in front of their truck and called the police. Only after that did they lower my truck and drive off without saying anything to me.
Those guys are scum.

If the owner of that lot was smart, he would sell parking passes. Of course, it sounds like he is a bitter old man who is pissed that he owns prime real estate and fails to realize that the area is worth more as a parking lot than a retail strip center.

from what A1 says, they operate under the philosphy that lack of proof constitutes a right to tow. Rather than walking in and saying "this vehicle isn't on the sheet, does it belong to an employee?" they take it as an opportunity to take a car based on a technicality. They arent providing a service, they are waiting for someone to make a mistake so they can benefit financially on a technicality at someone elses expense.

It is quite obvious the wrong car was towed since the employee is female & the alleged student is a tattooed male.
