EDIT: Note that I guessed a city in Scotland, but somehow didn't have the same mental hangup with that. I think I have revealed some subconscious bias.

He writes books about ancient cities and using all that is known for certain, fills it in with day-to-day human stories. In this one, for example, he goes through the founding of Salisbury/Sarum all the way through the conception and construction of Stonehenge. I don't exactly know what genre to call it. It's very interesting, he did one for Kiev (its called Russka), which was the first city I was going to do till I saw it mentioned already on this thread.
