i read a pretty interesting article recently about it, for you engineer types.
its about a guy who ran a civil engineering company out of dallas and they did civil type work in disaster and war torn countries.
he went to sarajevo during the siege and reestablished their ancient water system so the citizens wouldnt get picked off by snipers when they went down to the river for water.
Was chosen to be the American Capital of Culture for the year 2003 (jointly, with Curitiba, Brazil).
Has been for 7 years in the top 5 places for retirement in the world according to International Living Magazine.
Within years of its founding, the city became a launching point for the exploration and conquest of Peru and a transit point for gold and silver headed towards Spain.
