Don't think the baseball job was open 30 days before hiring Earley...though I could be wrong.
No way we can wait 30 days to announce a coach with the portal having been open for 2 weeks already.
We are so far behind already im not sure next year is salvagable at this point.

It has to be posted but you can announce your head coaching sooner by tailoring the qualifications to meet the coach's resume.
Five days. But I believe even then that athletics coaching hires are a different animal.
With the portal closed and big name talent finding homes elsewhere it'll be hard to reload for the 2027 season unless through the international ranks or grad transfers… just don't know what we are doing

Another reason this could be taking so long: I'm starting to think they are going to slash the track budget.
I'm sure Pat was paid a king's ransom and he's probably got some unintentional responsibility for what escalated a lot of the head coach salaries in this sport nationally since his time here. Anybody close to his level now may be getting hit with buzzkill about future budgets when expressing interest in the job. So while the facilities, etc., are in place, the almighty dollar may not. I don't know that many would take a pay cut to come here even with the facilities what they are.

I saw that rumor on Let's Run, that Trev was waiting for Henry to retire so he can slash the track budget. I can see that as something Trev does, but it was weird, very weird, how Pat Henry spent so much of his press conference talking about Trev Alberts a guy he worked with only a few years.

Do we think he will be able to keep up on the women's side as well given he historically has not. He also has not historically been a good high school recruiter? Do we think these things he'll be able to turn around?
A lot of that falls on the assistants he hires. He'll have more infrastructure in that regard here than anywhere he's been (as long as the formula stays the same as when Pat was here).
Obviously he knows sprints, but what do you think this will mean as far as our current mid-distance, distance & field coaches?

I really hope so, I think this place can help recruit itself. To answer your and DoItBests's question, I hope he retains Paul Ereng, he's a gem of a coach. But I do hope he can recruit well on the women's sideBlkbrt said:

Not if they were seniors this year. The rule affects and junior or below this year. They'll have the chance to compete their senior year in 2027, then a 5th year if they haven't redshirted in 2028
