Interesting that Burrell said in his interview with Nuno today that the women had 12 spots to fill and the men needed more in the short sprints and that we have been hosting visitors all week.

All those 400 runners we had about to be 60/100/200 guys. We'll still have 400 guys but the emphasis will for sure shift...and it makes sense because that is what he is good at recruiting and coaching, just like Pat was good at coaching the 400.

I assumed pats staff will largely stay in place which, in my mind, we will still be strong at middle distance but coach is gonna really bring up our sprinting program

I love our young talent on the men's side. I'm really curious what we add on the women's side. We lost a of our big time scorers across many events, so I wonder how we rebuild there! We need some game changers

It also seems like Auburn athletes were excited to keep Harnden as an assistant, Auburn also hired Penn State's mid distance and distance coach which is an enormous hire for them.

Agreed...Burrell was hired over 2 weeks ago. Honestly expected/hoped for more instant impact from the portal.

Especially to combat what the other schools are doing. Arkansas can't stop signing people from the portal, UGA is adding huge pieces, Florida who returns the ncaa champ in the 400 hurdles added the Taylor twins from North Carolina A&T who made that final. Tech is adding more around their freshman phenoms. We need to get on it

Georgia added a 7'5 high jumper, so they now have about 3 guys who have gone 7'3 or higher. Arkansas added two 7'4 high jumpers

Apparently Harnden was promoted at Auburn and quickly axed all his co-workers except one. If true, wow!

I haven't heard of any changes to our assistants since Burrell was hired other than them advertising for a Director of Ops. They did have an open position since Julia Abell left the staff recently to follow her husband to another state.

My guess would be no considering the distance roster has been decimated from a numbers standpoint from when she joined. There used to be 50+ distance runners each year. It's now half that.

I mentioned her opening because they may be using that slot to hire the Dir. of Ops.

Some of the athletes on visits would be immediate help.

That isn't due to lack of recruiting, that was due to new roster limits. It used to be lower scholarship amounts but no limits on roster spots so the distance squad was a little bit of a farm program where you have a ton of athletes hoping to develop some elite, now they have to be more strategic on who they give spots to. If anything she did a great job improving the quality of female recruits.
