And what happened to roster limits?

If a player is cut by their squad, they don't count against the roster limit when then transfer or if they chose to stay. These were the Designated Student Athletes as part of the House settlement. So a school could "cut" a player that was receiving a 100% scholarship (or any scholarship %, but it makes more sense for the full ride athletes), the player could stay with the school if they chose to a still receive their prior financial aid.

The school could then use that roster spot they created to find more depth for the roster.

12-13 athletes on a tennis roster just seems crazy. There is no need for that.

Agree. Seems like it could work against you. And maybe it would be a little different without the transfer situation and you had the luxury of developing players for three years before they saw action.

#4 is where we may not be quite as strong as other top contenders on paper. So it's more of adding another top player vs. additional depth.

I'm very bullish on Ruby and Kristina so not suggesting they won't step up. Lex last year is perfect example.

And what about Arina Bulatova? I completely forgot about her.

i actually think 1, 4, 5 & 6 should be our strengths this year. The depth we have in that range is insane and someone with really good experience will play in addition one of those spots.

I'm a little hesitant at liking our 2&3 no matter who it is right now. It's no elite level imo rn. However, if it is Lincer and Kristina the experience there will be invaluable. Playing #1 at the schools or conferences that they did is no easy task and is a whole difffernt level.

I always wonder how these college rankings work. Ruby Cooling has a higher UTR than Kritstina Paskauskas but is 60 places lower in the rankings. Not that I care, but it is curious to me.

Carson was up 6-4, 5-3 and 30 love and suddenly got really tight after missing an easy ball at 30-0.

I agree with this. Texas, OU, UGA, Auburn, Stanford, OSU all have a stronger 2-3 than us, on paper. But it's the first to 4 points.

I am curious about Lincers contribution. She hasn't necessarily had any stellar wins in her college career. Never was necessarily tested in a very weak Big12.

This is true but I think Olivia and Lex will end up being stronger at #2/#3 than Mia and Ilinca. Although those two stepped up when they had to (Ilinca over UNC and Mia over Georgia).

Several teams this year have 11s at # four. Top is getting deep.

watching Mary now. Wish we could get her a bit more pop and spin on her first and second serves, and a little more margin for error on her groundstrokes. Don't remember her missing this many rally balls. Fantastic athlete, though. She's going to have a good career on tour once she breaks through. Especially if she can get with another good doubles player and play both.

I'm interested to see the lineup for sure! I think we have a clear #1. Everyone else...I'm not sure how they will line up! In my mind Olivia is definitely #2...she played line 1 all last year for Oklahoma State...have to see how the newbies compete against Lexington for 3-4-5-6.

Thought she had it. She's lost a lot of close sets / matches recently. Sometimes confidence. Hopefully she can turn it around.

See, her results and UTR are a mixed bag. She has some decent wins and also some bad losses. I think who ever plays #2 for us this year will be a bonus match if we win. Otherwise it will be a wash.
