Heard he is much more X and Os then recruiting coach but with a staff that can recruit and he does have ties all over the country it could be good. I think the players that come ( and stay) will like playing for him. Recruit Texas and transfer portal to fill holes and we could be a program behind Texas in the state in a few years. We have two significant pieces to build off of this coming season.

I thought we would go a male coach and we did.

Looking at the U19 national roster that Morrison coached this past summer and there are two in state studs on that team! A class of 2024 6'4 Middle committed to Nebraska and a 2025 6'3 OH Macaria Spears who's the son of Marcus Spears. It's great that he's already established connections with some of the nations best and has strong coaching ties to Houston. Maybe he can sway some talented Longhorns he coached who don't see the court for them to come our way! Either way I'm just excited to see what happens next! Those of us with connections to the programs, can you share how he approaches the team and what he plans on doing with his staff, I can't wait!

His wife's last name is literally Maroon lol. She was a Libero for Villanova and has assistant coaching stops at A&M Corpus, Florida Gulf Coast, Villanova, and Pitt! The new Corbelli's! Meaning a consistent tourney team, but hopefully they take us further

One thing I hadn't considered in my impatience of this announcement, and I am probably wrong, but until yesterday he wasn't under any ncaa rules about recruitment or player contact. Hopefully we will see some results for that soon.

Most players shared the news on social media of the Morrison hire, including all 5 recruits from last years signing class and all 3 from this year.

I'm not sure if the intentions of any girls that have a covid year, but on senior day we honored Maddie Bowser, Allison Fields, Cici Hecht, Elena Karakasi, and Destiny Cox. Most have exhausted their eligibility. I think only Maddie Bowser can return.

Fields and Karakasi are done

CiCi and Maddie could come back for sure if they desire to (CiCi covid year and Maddie same and or reshirt year her freshman season.

Cox could have another year with medical redshirt possibilities

Really interesting out of the box hire. He's known as a good x's and o's coach but not sure about recruiting. But the club world knows him and he's well liked by the girls he coaches. Risky hire for sure but I like it more than just hiring another top assistant coach. Let's get him some elite recruiters on staff and see what happens. The transfer portal should be interesting to watch too.

What happened with his dutch national teams? He and A&M are catching a lot of criticism on volleytalk for this hire. Anyone know what happened?

I wouldn't worry about his coaching at the Netherlands as there will always be cultural, philosophical and other issues out there and right from the start there are players, fans and administrators from the Netherlands who weren't going to be supportive of Coach Jamie. The key for Coach Jamie is to hire 2 good proven volleyball assistants who are good recruiters.

My family is officially carrying volleyball season tickets for 2023. Hopefully, this hire will put a quality product on the court quickly

It seems like his first year they did well/as expected, second year seems like they just missed expectations/had some wheels fall off and then a collapse his third year. In an article it seems like he took it hard and did some soul searching after being fired. Hopefully he learned from it. Excited about him still.

Volleytalk has some amazing posters with some of the best knowledge on a message board. However like many message boards you have to sift through some of the negativity.
I am ok with this hire. I am now concerned about recruiting as Morrison hasn't really been a major recruiter at this kinda of level. So his assistants might have to be people who can get the players. He will likely be a great coach for the Diamond in the rough players that might be able to pan out.
I want a new facility more than anything because I think we can get a new Holler House set up with correct marketing and upwards trajectory

Is there going to be a press conference and formal introduction?

Since the twitter post came exactly at 5:00 pm on Friday I would assume the press conference will likely be during the super bowl or some other major event.

Hearing that some of the assistants will have a chance to stay on board with A&M. Obviously, Jamie will have the final say although sounds like they will get an opportunity to pitch themselves to the new HC.

Interesting, you clean house of all support staff but maybe will bring back assistants?

I am sure it does put him in an awkward position of coaching club in town and talking to these assts before all of the sudden being the boss who controls their fate. With that said I think it should be a fresh start across the board at this point.

This seems like the most laid back hire ever. No introduction other than what we see on social media. I guess maybe I'm just out of the loop.

Tu's OH Melanie Parra is headed to the portal! I wonder since Morrison coached in Austin for a year could he sway some sips to play for us that wouldn't crack the rotation over there!
