I was just looking at the start lists for the men's hurdles at a meet in Arkansas this weekend (flashresults.com) and while A&M has no entries, I was surprised to see that senior Matt Treston (who has competed twice previously for the Ags) is entered, but lists his affiliation as Great Britain (his home country). Seems kind of strange to me!
A&M men's hurdlers have not competed much indoors...while Connor Schulman is having a fairly good season
(not as good as last year) we have yet to see much from other hurdlers... I realize that James Smith, Moitalel
Mpoke and Ricky Weir are primarily outdoor long hurdlers, but I expected a few races from them indoors to shake off the rest. Same with soph Quentin Zapata in the highs.
Maybe we'll sign some good kids for next year...(I think Landon Helms of Idaho will primarily concentrate on the vault and multis)

Also wish had some athletes competing this weekend nothing is guaranteed in as tough a conference as the SEC. I think Schulman explodes outdoors and had his best season yet, Mpoke was hurt the beginning of the season and I'm not sure about Smith. But if those two are healthy outdoors that gives us the best hurdling duo in the nation. Don't sleep on Kirk Collins, he had some phenomenal races at the end of the season! Some more strength to keep him clean over the last hurdles and he is easily gonna be under 50.5! The 400 hurdles is one of my favorite events and I can't wait to see them outdoors!

Also the duo of Joy Moorer and Jaiya Covington are gonna be PHENOMENAL for the next 5 years when they arrive next year! 400 hurdles is an event I'll always trust Coach Henry in

Here's a cool story on javelin thrower Nick Mirabelli and the setbacks he's faced after missing out all of last season!! Great to see he's doing better

Athletes with a top 16 mark as of now... I believe there's one more meet to go today, but that shouldn't really affect the sprints. The top 16 marks go to nationals, but some athletes may not run those events so the athletes just outside may advance.

It seems like tu is now the new Oregon with so many transfers.
How are they managing these scholarships?

One of their transfers ran the no 2 time nationally behind James Smith time of 49.72 in the 400m hurdles Gabriele Montefalcone (49.82)

Their roster doesn't seem too inflated, but I don't how it's allocated. Allegedly, tu swimming would offer a "books" scholarship, but didn't actually buy the kid's books. They just has a library of books that the kids borrowed from and returned, so it was really a walk-on offer. I don't know how they do it now in the era of online books.

I will say tu has a bunch of young well-known volunteer assistant coaches.

You have to look at the people they sign to big scholarships that don't instantly perform for them. They quickly cut them based on athletic performance (which is not allowable by the NCAA).

If you are constantly cutting bad signees instead of abiding by the terms of the NLI (which is supposed to last for four years) you raise the level of your team much quicker.

Multi-year scholarship offers are allowed, but not very common other than in football and basketball. Usually they are year to year.

A look at NCAA Prelims/West Regionals after 3 weeks. I crossed out a couple of people that I don't think will run an event at Regionals. Hanson will be up in the 400 group and Miller in the 800 group. Richardson will qualify in the women's 400. Obviously, it's early, but we're shaping up to send quite a few people there.

I don't think we'll finish 2nd in the 4x1. I do think we'll get some points in the javelin. There were some other things in there like Anna Hall running the 400H and finishing 4th. I don't believe that, but I think it's a pretty fair early look.
