We understand it's basically his 3rd week of practice but can't wait to see him go out there with the indoor shot and make a mark! The 16th and last national qualifying throw in the nation is 62'9 for now. Devon Achane is making the trip as well, but I'm unsure if he's competing. From social media, Charokee Young and Chevannie Hanson will be doing the open 400. Also Tech usually has their entires up around this time, and of course the one meet we attend there they're late lol

She stepped off on the last lap after falling off the pace on the last couple of laps.
She was running really well for about 75/80% of the race, but some of the top milers in the world pushed the pace and and Mu tried to keep up with them but ultimately couldn't! It was a big ask and she held her own most of the way. Her mile PR is 4:37 and the top girls in the race went under 4:20! She stepped off and didn't wanna push herself more than she could through about 1400 meters of the race, needed less than 200 to go and even fading away probably could have run a 4:25-4:30
According to Tyra Gittens recent Instagram follows/followers (including Texas Coach Floreal today), she will be training at Texas. Guessing we'll hear an announcement today or tomorrow if she is enrolled in classes and going to compete as an amateur NCAA athlete or going to train as a professional under Coach Floreal and staff.
I hope she's just there to train, but I just checked and she's enrolled there at Texas. I saw she followed a bunch of Texas athletes last week and wasn't enrolled so assumed she was just there to train, but now that she's enrolled I would think she's going to compete outdoors.
It's a shame, Tyra Gittens was probably my favorite Texas A&M athlete across all sports and the few interactions I had she was sweet as she came across. I don't know how you leave the coaches who believed in you the most and helped you become one of the most dominant track athletes in the world, it's mind boggling. I know she was closest to Terri Turner Hairston, so a reason could be Hairston returning to Texas to coach. Her friend Tara Davis isn't even training their anymore. But Coach Floreal is a snake, and is seen as one to a lot of other coaches. He probably illegally recruited her and used negative recruiting tactics towards us. He probably used her missing the olympics in the hep and doing to many events against us and Tyra after missing the Olympics in the hep bought it. I mean she was scheduled to compete for us in December at Arky and listed on the start list here at the first indoor meet in January and week of decided to quit the team. It's one of the most shocking moves I've ever seen in this sport. Anna Hall and Jasmine Moore followed a coach, Tyra Gittens left her coaches and her teammates for a rival. I wish her all the best but it'll be tough to root for her. Also it's crazy given that she made so much strides here, broke NCAA records here, and qualified to the Olympics here. I mean look at her improvement at Texas A&M under our staff! But in the words of Tyra Gittens "I came back to school at Texas A&M because I'm an Aggie for life..."

Very much so... it's such a shame. Why lead on your coaches, teammates, fans, and bail. Explains why Pat a Henry was so indifferent when asked about it. He knew what she was up to. Coach Flo does this every where he goes, he's slimy but it'll come back to him. The last man you wanna piss off is Pat Henry.
Sad thing was she started to play with her followers minds on Instagram like a guessing game rather than come out and say you transferred to Texas. There is nothing lower than this for me. Her fiance was trying to justify and make people feel she was moving on so she can protect her body for long term
Lol my 11 year old cousin who loves track is obsessed with Tyra and has a picture of the two of them on her fridge, if Tyra competes for Texas she will be devastated. It's the Aggie for life thing to me... why make the Batallion write you a loving farewell story titled Aggie for Life if you know you're going to enroll at Texas lmao... this is gonna be one of the most head scratching moves ever, in any sport if she competes for them this season.

idk so this is my own personal speculation and I have no insider info whatsoever. I noticed the timing of her departure was after she was scheduled on the start lists, right after Lendore passed, and also reflected on Henry's strange comment, "i don't want to discuss that anymore"
My gut instinct is that she took the passing close to heart more so than many. Probably had a conversation where she couldn't regroup and may have asked for the meet or semester off. Henry probably commented that was not in the interest of the team and that they were grieving too and that she should get prepared to compete. I thing a dialogue ensued and may have escalated between both; it is not in her character to betray A&M without cause and it's not like Henry to be aloof in info on her departure. All he said was, "some of us have handled Dion's passing better than others... ". I think his Team first and expectation that she will compete rubbed her the wrong way and things escalated beyond mutual benefit for A&M. Unfortunate but I feel this is what really happened and He doesn't want to discuss what words were actually exchanged nor does she for they both may have cross emotional boundaries by the passing of Lendore.

She said yesterday she happy to be back training at her new home (Texas). This doesn't sound like a person who wanted a semester off. Her actions on social media tells a far different story from your personal speculation
That's a bummer for both sides. Sad how one argument can lead to this. I can understand her feelings, but I'm sure Deon would have loved to see his fellow Trini compete for the school he loved so much one last time! I was hoping she'd win the Bowerman and a team national title here for him... plus he hated the Longhorns lol
Imagine how much money she could make this year going pro and competing in the world championships. Plus Coach Flo is known for wearing down his runners, look how his girls competed at nationals last season. By the Olympics Tara Davis and Stacey Ann Williams were nowhere near their Pr's. His girls always peak early... just watch! The whole body rest thing is so dumb and a lame excuse

Not after claiming to be an Aggie for life and leading your teammates, friends, coaches, and fans on for half a year that you would be competing in the maroon and white in a year where we would be the favorites for a national title just to bail the first week you were supposed to compete and leave everyone high and dry... she didn't follow any coach to Texas nor has she ever worked with any athlete or coach there. she's literally taking a leap of faith and going to a rival school to top it all off.
If she graduated and made it her intent to transfer elsewhere it would've been totally reasonable, but she led every one on saying she was gonna compete in the maroon and white cause she's an Aggie for life... it's not her transferring, it's the lying, cover up, and betrayal.

I was one of the biggest fans of Tyra throughout her tenure here. But this isn't a transfer you just brush off and say oh well, she left the team first week of indoor when she was expected to compete! This year was supposed to be special

Looks like it's done. Tyra Gittens is listed as part of Texas' 4x400m relay entry in the University of New Mexico Collegiate Classic scheduled for this upcoming weekend
