Full indoor and Outdoor track and field schedule is out
Lots of track and field from Dec 4th to June 2022.

2021-22 Track and Field Schedule - Texas A&M Athletics - 12thMan.com

We are hosting SEC indoors 2022
Nice to see we are hosting an outdoor high school track meet in March 2022. Would certainly help with recruiting.
Great to see the Aggies travel to Florida for the Tom Jones Memorial in April 2022

Just saw where Kenyan marathon WR holder and 5000 m runner Agnes Tirop was found dead in her training home in Kenya. Evidently it is being investigated under suspicious circumstances?

8 home track and field meets this season! Yay! That Tom Jones meet is always loaded and full of PR's so that will be amazing for us! Like our schedule and the addition of the high school meet is awesome! Hopefully with our fast track and great facility we can attract some top high school talent!

Appears her husband stabbed her to death. Has not been apprehended. 25 years old. Such a travesty.

This weekend is considered pre-nationals and many big time meets will be taken place across the country! A&M will host the Arturo Barrios Invitational with over 30 schools and nearly 300 competitors per gender! Racing in a huge field is a lot more difficult regardless the competition, so hopefully our runners can get out fast and not get caught in a cluster of runners! I'm really interested to see if our girls can get out fast and stick together to push one another to the end! In big fields, runners 1-5 are all important and runners 4/5 can't afford to fall back cause the big numbers will add up!

Eric Casarez should continue his dominance as always, but let's see which of our men's runners can establish themselves as our consistent runners in the 2-5 slot!

Our women will look to keep their winning streak alive! Our girls last ran a 6k in Mizzou 6 days after a 5k at home. So expect an even stronger performance! Look out for all 5 of Black, Goddard, Santoro, Livingston, and Plain to stay close the whole race and let it rip down the homestretch in front of the 12th man! Livingston and Plain fell off their pace last race which was expected after a short turnaround, but running fresh watch them close really well, as well as Santoro who took the last home meet off before running well in Mizzou!

A big meet in Tallahassee is also taking place where regional foes Arkansas and Texas will compete! Arkansas is way ahead of us in cross country, but it's going to be interesting to see where Texas is at as that would be our competition for the second auto bid to nationals.

Sorry if my cross country commentating isn't as detailed and in depth as track, I'm trying to become a better cross country fan/armchair distance coach lol

The weather on Saturday looks perfect. Might have to check out the meet then go watch the Mizzou game at Block T or somewhere else

a home track and field/cross country meet with nice weather! What are the odds! We now have someone to blame if the weather sucks

Isn't it supposed to rain pretty heavily the next couple of days? I think the course is going to be tough.

Mary Cain filed suit against Alberto Salazar and Nike yesterday.

https://www.oregonlive.com/business/2021/10/distance-runner-mary-cain-sues-former-coach-alberto-salazar-nike-over-alleged-abuse.html
Quote:

Mary Cain, the promising distance runner whose career fizzled after what she has described as four miserable years at the Nike Oregon Project, has filed a $20 million lawsuit against her former coach, Alberto Salazar, and their employer, Nike.

Cain accused Salazar of emotionally abusing her when she joined the team as a 16-year-old. The lawsuit portrays Salazar as an angry control freak who was obsessed with Cain's weight and didn't hesitate to publicly humiliate her about it.

That, she said, took a toll on her physical and mental health. Nike was aware, the lawsuit alleges, but failed to intervene.

Nike did not return messages. Salazar could not be reached but has previously denied abuse allegations, and he has said neither Cain nor her parents had raised concerns while she was part of the program.

As a law student, this was a great read and very alarming and disheartening! I feel for Mary Cain, she had so much potential and Salazar ruined her. Hopefully this gets a little more exposure if the allegations are indeed true! This will most likely end in a large settlement, and Nike having an unlicensed psychologist treating her and Salazar forcing her to workout through injuries is appalling! If Cain has some good teammates to be witnesses or good evidence, Salazar will be done and Nike could be found liable! I hope good wins out here! This could be an example set forth hard by the courts through punitive damages to Nike to show running companies to not overuse and abuse athletes!

Also thank GOD Nike allowed Athing Mu to train in her own environment and with her own coach in Mallard and Henry in College Station! I would go ballistic if they hurt one of our own!

I want to be in the conversation of one of the greatest distance runners to run in the Maroon & White, just like Arturo was. That alone makes him a big role model to me." - Eric Casarez

Ole Miss women take down Arkansas! How sweet would it be if Arkansas doesn't win the SEC this year
taylorswift13

On a course where 81 women ran under 21:00 in the 6k, Texas' top girls went 21:28, 21:36, 21:45, 22:08, 22:12 which for a fast course is not impressive at all! Also noted is that none of their top 5 moved up the last 1k. Understandably we don't know where they are in their training or if they worked through the meet, but I still feel like our girls can possibly beat them this year! Let's see how we fare tomorrow morning!

Its good to see. It looks like Arkansas does not have the depth they usually do. Their 4th and 5th runners come in at 96 and 113.

That was shocking!! Their 4th best runner Abby Gray transferred to Incarnate Word, which her home is in SA, but still a shocking transfer! Hopefully our girls are ready!

Our girls finished 4th as a team behind Lipscomb, Middle Tennessee, and Abilene Christian Our girls were firmly in 2nd and clawing back to first but Grace Plain fell from 22 to 142. Not at the race so not sure what happen, but I pray and hope she's okay! Our girls ran together well but broke apart and started racing individually. The times were still amazing and many SB's and PR's by our ladies! It was a great showing by them. Black and Santoro ran really well and our freshman are showing great progress! Next up is conference! Annie Fuller ran unattached and finished 2nd behind NCAA contender Grace Forbes!

14. Julia Black 20:57
17. Abbey Santoro 21:00
28. Maddie Livingston 21:24
38. Gemma Goodard 21:33
