Women's Cross Country Results

3. Julia Black 17:31 PR
4. Maddie Livingston 17:49
5. Grace Plain 17:50 A MINUTE PR
7. Gemma Goddard 18:00
10. Emma Ellis 18:07

Wow what a showing from our girls! 3 freshman in our top 5 again in Livingston, Goddard, and Ellis! A great run by Julia Black and what a race from Grace Plain! She PR'd by over a full minute on a 5k cross country course, INSANE! I suppose Abbey Santoro couldn't run which is a bummer but glad Plain stepped up and our freshman as well! Great depth on the women's side which is something we've been lacking! Great team win for our girls and just to sweeten things up Annie Fuller finished 2nd overall, behind superstar Grace Forbes of Rice and Freshman Emma Saia finished 11th and Laura Fairchild 12th!

Wow didn't know we signed Jitjaeng! That's a great pickup! Glad we prioritized throws this past cycle! Hopefully Foster stays healthy during football season! Our men's throw program is in good hands for the next couple years! Foster will be over 60+ this year! Hankins is a retiring All American and hopefully Mirabelli can rebound from his injury and not competing last year!

Our cross country is performing exceptionally well! Casarez is a mission after last season! He is on pace to be an All American this season! So happy our freshman girls are performing really well! Goddard, Livingston, Ellis, Saia, and Chastain are awesome and going to really elevate this distance program!

A 7th place team finish for our Aggies, which is not bad considering they ran another 8k 6 days ago then had to fly out to Missouri just yesterday! Casarez opened up lead and never looked back! Back to back wins at 23:04 and 23:35 within a week is crazy! I could imagine the guys were running on heavy legs so for them to stay in contention is a great sign! 2 weeks till another home race!

37. Colton Colonna

THE AGGIES WIN THE LADIES RACE! What a race from our ladies! They finished strong which is even more impressive after racing 6 days ago! Last year Mizzou was 7th in the SEC and we just beat them on our home course with a strong team race 1-5!!

5. Julia Black
6. Gemma Goddard
13. Abbey Santoro
18. Maddie Livingston
23. Grace Plain

41. Emma Ellis
42. Katelyn Buckley

Yup, just shows how important the team is and how important the 4th and 5th runner is as that was the difference. Right now the ladies are ranked 3rd in the region behind Arkansas and Texas. We meed to surpass Texas to get to nationals, which may be possible if our team is running this well!!!!!!! This was also the first 6K for for our freshman and Santoro was coming off a minor injury I assume since she didn't race last week!

Even if the women come 3rd at Regionals, they can still qualify based their performances during the season and get an at large bid. They must however do very well during the season and beat some of the teams that may have qualified automatically.

See selection criteria below

Quote:

Once the regionals have concluded, the top two teams in each regional there are nine in total automatically qualify for the championships, which equates to 18 automatic qualifiers. In other words, it's the safest route to qualification. The NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will then choose 13 at-large teams to fill out the 31 team field.
At-large teams selections are based firstly on their performance at regionals, making the third- and fourth-place teams the most likely candidates.
Regular and postseason (up until the championships) results combine to create a detailed resume of a team's performance throughout the season, and that resume is also looked over by the subcommittee to determine at-large championship selections. The amount of regular season points and specifically the wins against teams that have already qualified or been selected to the national championships really matter here.

Just watched the stream, Ellis and Buckley looked woozy crossing the finish line. Of course, a lot of the other ladies that finished after them looked rough.

Unlikely they face enough top teams with the schedule having so many home meets against small texas schools. Basically have to win SECs or beat texas as region

Here's, Texas' results from 2 weeks ago... their girls did not look too impressive! I know it's difficult to compare two different races but they had one girl under 22:00 and we had 5! They're 5th runner was at 23:33 ours was at 21:37! Texas also had a way faster pace in to run with as 7 people in that race were under 21:00...

https://s3.amazonaws.com/texassports_com/documents/2021/9/24/JamboreeResults.pdf

Their race last week was against D2 and D3 schools and their top 5 was 20:49, 21:30, 21:32, 21:43, 21:43! They swept the field against weaker teams and had people pacing them as well!

Like I said comparing different cross country races is difficult and at times impossible... but this Texas women's team is not as dominant as they have been! Our 5 running fresh can compete with theirs! Our girls ran a 6k yesterday 6 days after a 5k. Which can explain why Plain and Livingston dropped the last 1k. Our girls on fresh legs and Santoro with more races under her can compete and possibly take down Texas for the 2nd spot in the region! I'm also nowhere near a cross country expert so I trust your all's opinion over mine, this is just my thought

Pretty sure the women run 6k at Nationals, not 8k.

I really like the chemistry on this women's team. They have some real potential to sneak up on teams if (like Coach Henry is fond of saying) they all have a good day on the same day.
