March 30th ITA rankings have come out. Our ladies move up 3 spaces to 17 after basically manhandling Vanderbilt last weekend, and completely OBLITERATING LSU this past weekend, those gals only drop 2 slots to 14. The loss to Kentucky was brutal. Those a**holes on the Kentucky men's team came to watch the ladies play and the things they were yelling AT OUR PLAYERS were atrocious. "You choke", "The scouting report says you typically have X number of unforced errors per set." "How did you get a scholarship to play college tennis?" If I had had a base ball bat i would have cracked some heads. Instead the refs let the a-holes get away with it even after the head ref goes and sits with the team in the stands. Our ladies held their composure as long as possible, but I've seen opposition players crack when I am yelling for OUR team and don't say a word to the opposing player.
Ags defeat #20 Auburn. 4-1!
Maybe the UK boys were still smarting from the 6-1 whipping they took here February 23.

I'm honestly surprised Denton is still here. I know he was mentioned for the tu job when Center went to prison, but the national title got Bruce the job, and rightfully so. I think he is comfortable here and can use the facilities as somewhat of an excuse for not having a top program even though recruiting is going quite well.
We need an overhaul of the entire facility and indoors on top of that. Unfortunately, it's not on the AD's radar right now, which is sad.

Watching the doubles matches today I was wondering if Missouri was really 1-10 in conference play and they won 2 doubles matches and were leading the 3rd when they clinched the doubles point. But the Aggies regrouped and won 5 first sets at singles and the player who did not win her first set, Katya Townsend, won her 2nd set and was leading the 3rd when the match ended.

I feel like we are having some trouble in doubles but find our legs in singles more often than not. Getting a solid doubles lineup can be tricky
Per 12thman.com, Mark Weaver said after the match "We definitely need to find ways to improve our play in doubles, and that's going to be the focus of our practice tomorrow."
I heard at the match that the 3 cancelled conference matches were going to be played next week, but there has been no official statement from the SEC or Athletic Department.

From what I am hearing, the expectations for next year will be the best year for Mark as head coach.
Mark Weaver said after losing the doubles point to Missouri on Thursday that the team would practice doubles on Friday and it paid off against Arkansas. Renee McBryde lost a first set tie-breaker 13 to 11 after being down 5-1 in the tie-breaker. Each player had about 5 set points. But losing that first set must have made her mad because she won sets 2 and 3 6-0.

Im not sure about the first 2 rounds or if there will be 64 teams. I know the USTA Campus in Orlando/Lake Nona will host from the Sweet 16 on up. Same goes for the Men's.

I was at the Missouri match and also the Arkansas match and it was very obvious the doubles was at a much higher level against Arkansas so something must have happened that turned things around. Good coaching staffs can make simple changes and bad coaching staffs can not. Not always about teaching your team something new, it is about finding what needs to be improved on and as Mark always says find ways to get better. Maybe they just had a good practice the day before...maybe they changed some strategies....maybe they just played smarter...who knows. They got the doubles point so good for the team for whatever adjustments were made.
Aggies will host UT Wednesday at 10 AM and Mississippi on Friday at 10 AM to makeup matches postponed from Match 12 and March 7 respectively.

Mark is being told that due to weather forecast calling for rain, we have to play them ALL INDOORS in either Waco, Houston, or Austin, or we have to travel to THEIR PLACE to play! Either that Or we have to travel to Tuscaloosa to play them all right before SEC tournament
Our girls are being penalized for getting Covid, and apparently the A&M athletic dept isn't going to bat for us. What a joke.
The other teams said they couldn't come back here due to financial reasons, so they're trying to make us travel to all three places.

Was hoping to watch a few more home matches. Perhaps they will host NCAAs. It's a shame that we do not have an indoor tennis facility. Hard to believe that Texas A&M has neglected the tennis programs for so long.
