If they musk, yes. But, any snake stinks when it does that. All the ones I've had were captive bred, except for one eastern hognose. So, they usually don't do that.

I was on the lagoon side catching bonefish and barracuda with my son. On the way back from the somewhat remote area this snake was in the ditch that some dudes were clearing. I'm fluent in Spanish and i asked them if it was a dangerous snake... They said it wasn't... I call BS, lol.

What do I have here? Friend posted this and one person states confidently a broadbanded water snake......I had it down as a cottonmouth. But with the exception of a few pics, I've come to realize I'm bad at the watersnakes.
Watersnake. Not sure of species, but the head is not a cottonmouth, and the color pattern is wrong. It doesn't have the ridged eyes and snout of a cottonmouth, the black and creme cheek bands, and the 45 degree heads up alert head posture.

I'd say broad-banded watersnake.
For all of what you mentioned and if you look closely you can see the light-colored stripe along the mouth isn't solid. It's got dark vertical bands which would differentiate it from a water moccasin.

Yes, broad-banded water snake.
I always think of broad banded water snakes as a cross between a water moccasin and copperhead. Their pattern, to me, looks like a good mix of both.

Saw this pic in my uncles office yesterday and was told this story. My 16 year old (girl) cousin wounded this dove and went to retrieve it from a thicket and found it becoming a meal for somebody else. She proceeded to pick up the snake, with the dove still in its mouth and brought over to where the hunters were congregating by the trucks. Eventually released it and it slithered away, dove and all. I've never seen a snake hold onto a meal through something like this. Oh, and no yuppie chicks in this family.
