Was doing some service with our church in brookshire last week. Helping clean out some terribly flooded houses. They had 2 rat snakes drop from the ceiling of their house into their bathroom which sent most old and young running out of the house. We caught one and the other is still lose in the walls somewhere. The owners were okay sleeping in a black mold infested house with wet furniture for a week, but the snake we couldn't catch was too much for them. Not sure if they are going to be sleeping there any time soon, which is probably a good thing for their health. Pretty funny experience.

Looks like a rat snake to me. It's exposed weird though and no head in the shot.
Yellowbelly/blotched watersnake
Spotted this guy sunning himself on the road while hiking yesterday. Murakami, Japan. Any ideas what he is? I think he might be a Japanese four-lined rat snake.
This picture was posted to the KDWPTs Game Warden Facebook page. I think you can imagine the "hilarity" that ensued given the quality of the genepool of the general facebook population.
Pretty nice pile of timbers though.

The comments on that picture on FB are almost as good as the actual picture. They are even worse than OB responses.
Someone in my subdivision ran over a corn snake last weekend. I really want to see a live one. Anyone know how they interact with black racers? That's the most frequent snake we see.
I assume you are in the southeast then? As far as react, not really sure, other than a large racer would likely eat a young corn snake
Cool, thanks for the info. I'm in SW Florida, and didn't know if the racers were pushing out other species. I used to see a bigger variety of snakes, but lately it's just racers.
If this works, can anyone identify this snake by its shed? It stretched from the ground up to my shoulder, so 5+ feet. San Antonio.

Someone will be 100% sure but I believe that split plates after the anal plate means non venomous.

Not100% sure but it looks similar to the shed that a yellow bellied racer leaves around my yard

Good looking copperhead.
I used to see those little rough earth snakes all the time inside ground water meters in the Memphis area when I was a kid. Haven't seen one in a long time however.

I would guess hognose. But I'm no herper. Just helping with imgur.

Eastern hognoses. One of the various colorations that they come in in Texas.

Man, that is one pretty Hognose!
Beautiful snake, but doesn't look anything like the plain brown hognose snakes we caught all the time growing up in Lubbock. I'm assuming that those hognose were either Western hognose or one of the dull colored varieties of the Eastern hognose.
