S Sael Reyes‍ picks SMU

CB Zay Gentry‍ pledges to the Stangs

QB Austin Carlisle‍ is headed to Houston

WR Braden Blueitt‍ commits to Northwestern

OL Jackson Christian‍ is a Longhorn

Headlines

Dakorien Moore‍ decommits from LSU – Five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore made waves with his decommitment from LSU. A longtime Tiger commit, he has kept an eye on a few other options, so the move is not entirely unexpected. In addition to LSU, he has also kept a close watch on Texas, Ohio State and Oregon. Now those three are his finalists, with official visits scheduled to Ohio State (May 31), Texas (June 14) and Oregon (June 21).

SMU’s big weekend – The Mustangs had a big weekend on “The Hilltop.” Not only did they continue to add some DFW flavor to the roster, but they also hit the West Coast for some big interior OLs. In addition to DFW area DBs Sael Reyes‍ and Zay Gentry‍, SMU also added Richland WR Xavier Johnson‍. Then they went out west for OS Drew Hill‍ and Jacob Maiava‍ of Corona (CA) Centennial and Rancho Margarita (CA) Santa Margarita Catholic.

Down to a few – A couple of top linebackers have seven schools on their mind. Cy-Falls LB Kaleb Burns‍ announced his final group of Baylor, Florida, Houston, Pitt, SMU, Texas Tech and Washington, while North Crowley LB Jonathan Cunningham‍ released a top schools list of Arizona State, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Utah. Port Arthur Memorial defensive end Michael Riles‍ took things a step further, naming a top six of Florida, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and UCF. One of the state’s top offensive playmakers also made a big announcement as Richland RB Michael Turner‍ posted a top 12 of Arizona, Baylor, Florida, Kansas State, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Pitt, SMU, TCU, Utah and Washington.

New Name to Know

RB Izayah Lee‍, Lancaster – 2026

Versatile and violent. These two words quickly come to mind when watching Lee. The 6-foot, 190-pound standout simply does not quit. He punishes defenders who dare to get in his way. He is explosive through the hole, running behind his pads with a forward lean, and he shows the shiftiness and nimble footwork to make defenders miss in tight spots.

The violence, explosion and nimble feet also show in the passing game, where he can be a devastating blocker in pass protection. However, do not sleep on his ability to be a receiver out of the backfield or even split out as a receiver. His body control and ability to track the ball quickly draw attention.

In 2023, Lee’s versatility caused coaches to flip him to defense, where he was a standout linebacker. His physicality, change of direction and vision were quickly put on display, and this spring, he turned heads with his move back to running back.

College coaches have taken notice, with offers arriving from TCU, SMU, UCF, North Texas, UTEP, Baylor, Boston College, Tulsa, Arizona State and Utah. He visited TCU this spring, and he is currently working on his college camp schedule.

God, family and the love of the game are his motivations and providing for his family is why he runs the way he does. Lee studies Derrick Henry and Tony Pollard in the film room, and he posted maxes of 265 on the bench and 475 on squat to go along with a 4.49 40-yard dash. He also competes in the 100m and 200m on the track.
