Recruiting notes from around SETX
First, I went by Jasper yesterday to see TE Kiotti Armstrong and OL Demetris Dean. Armstrong was on last weekend's visitor list but had to cancel last minute. No worries though as he told me he will definitely making the trip to campus this week. As for Dean, he was still going through his schools and hadn't set up anything in terms of visits with Texas A&M. He did say he was hoping to get back up to see a practice or even the spring game. Second, I just wrapped up a stop at Port Neches-Groves where I spoke to standout offensive lineman Jackson Christian as his recruitment appears headed straight toward an Aggie versus Longhorn battle. He told me that he'll be on campus this Thursday (April 4) and Saturday (April 6), and it sounds like Adam Cushing's line of communication has maintained a good amount of consistency. The staff at PNG all gave Mike Elko high marks after he made a stop through the school. They were using very similar descriptors to what we've heard so much already. Steve Sarkisian has also made his way down there, and Texas is right there in the mix for Christian, as well. I'll have a full update on this one once the kid wraps up that Saturday visit in College Station. Also, keep an eye on 2026 OL Aaron Wolford at PNG. He's started to grab the attention of a lot of the coaches that are making their rounds through the Golden Triangle. I've got one more stop today at Port Arthur Memorial to see offers Michael Riles (DL) and Tank King (2026 LB). The former is expected on campus soon - perhaps as early as this weekend - while the latter has been a regular in College Station in his relatively young recruiting calendar. Riles is amongst that group of defensive linemen that we are watching to see who gets the big pushes by the coaching staff. It's pretty clear that Elko, Bateman, and company like his skillset and are intrigued by his growth and potential. The staff at Port Arthur Memorial fully believe Riles is a disruptive force for a power program at the next level. For Tank King, I think the Aggies have done a fantastic job of making the kid and family feel like they're already a priority. He's one of the top defensive prospects in Texas in that class and has his eye on being the state's top linebacker. He was on campus last weekend, and my read on the situation as it stands currently is that Texas A&M and LSU have sort of separated themselves from the pack. Still a long way to go for the class of 2026, but this is a kid you don't want to be late to the part on…and Elko and the Aggies certainly aren't.

Twelve 'line of scrimmage' names to watch for Texas A&M in 2025
Winning the line of scrimmage is paramount in the Southeastern Conference, and with a plethora of in-state talent along both sides of the line in the class of 2025, Mike Elko & Co. have the opportunity to add plenty of impact linemen in their first full cycle at Texas A&M.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
