On Friday’s edition of TexAgs Radio, Kay Naegeli took us Around Aggieland and provided updates on all things Texas A&M Athletics ahead of A&M basketball's regular-season finale, baseball's weekend at the Shriners Children’s College Classic and so much more.


Basketball (22-8, 14-3 in SEC)
On Tuesday night, the Aggies bounced back from a weekend loss to Mississippi State to defeat the Ole Miss Rebels on the road, 69-61. 

  • Tyrece Radford led the Ags with 13 points. 
  • Wade Taylor IV added 12 points. 
  • Julius Marble scored 10 points. 

Texas A&M looks for its program record 15th conference win of the season on Saturday when they host No. 2 Alabama. 

Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. CT and will be televised on CBS. 

Baseball (5-3, 0-0 in SEC)
Despite dropping the weekend series to Portland, the Aggie bats finally came alive in a clobbering of Houston Christian, 23-0. 

  • Austin Bost hit a grand slam in the fourth inning on route to a 3-for-4 night.
  • Ryan Targac went 2-for-3 on the night with three RBIs.
  • Ty Sexton (1-0); W, 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2BB 

The Aggies will hit the road for the first time this season as they head to the Shriners Children’s College Classic at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros. 

  • Friday: vs.. No. 14 Louisville - 7 p.m. CT
  • Saturday: vs. Rice - 7 p.m. CT
  • Sunday: vs. No. 24 Texas Tech - 7 p.m. CT

Women’s Basketball (9-19, 2-14 in SEC)
Joni Taylor and the Aggies are looking to play spoiler this week at the SEC Tournament, already knocking off 12-seed Vanderbilt on Wednesday, 77-70 and 5-seed Mississippi State on Thursday, 79-72. 

  • Sydney Bowles led the way with 22 points, shooting 6-for-12 from behind the arc. 
  • Aaliyah Patty registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. 
  • Sahara Jones and Jada Malone each recorded 12 points. 

  • Sydney Bowles led the Aggies once again with 19 points on 6-for-8 shooting from three. 
  • Aaliyah Patty added 15 points and six rebounds. 
  • Jada Malone scored 12 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field. 

The Aggies continue their run in the SEC Tournament as they take on Ole Miss in the quarterfinals on Friday. 

  • Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. CT and will be televised on the SEC Network. 

Softball (12-4, 0-0 in SEC)
The Maroon & White returned to Davis Diamond for a midweek game defeating Houston in run-rule fashion on Wednesday, 9-1.

  • Grace Uribe homered in the sixth inning to finish off the run-rule.
  • Morgan Smith hit a three-run home run in the first. 
  • Emiley Kennedy (4-1): W, 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

A&M travels to Waco this weekend as they will compete in the Ode to Joy Invitational.

Women’s Golf
Zoe Slaughter
shot a program-best 18-under par as the Aggies claimed the top spot at the ICON Invitational on Tuesday in Humble, Texas. 

A&M shot a program-best 34-under par in the tournament and marked the second tournament victory in the Gerrod Chadwell era. Slaughter was named SEC Golfer of the Week for her performance. 

Women’s Tennis (11-1, 0-0 in the SEC)
The second-ranked Aggies took down Northwestern on Monday in Orlando, 5-1. 

A&M captured the doubles point, 2-0. Mary Stoiana, Mia KupresDaria Smetannikov and Jeanette Mireles won their singles matches. A&M hits the road this week as they open SEC play for a pair of conference matches.

  • Sunday: at South Carolina - 11 a.m. CT, not televised

Men’s Tennis (4-4, 1-0 in SEC)
The Aggies opened up conference play on Thursday with a victory over LSU, 4-1,  before defeating Lamar in the nightcap, 7-0. 

A&M dropped the doubles point, 2-1. Noah Schachter, Raphael Perot, Giulio Perego and Pierce Rollins won their singles matches. 

The Aggies captured the doubles point, 2-0. All six Aggies won their singles matches. 

The Maroon & White continue conference play Saturday playing host to Kentucky before taking on UTSA in a non-conference matchup. 

  • Game 1: vs. No. 5 Kentucky - 1 p.m. CT, not televised
  • Game 2: vs. UTSA - 6 p.m. CT, not televised 

Equestrian (7-4, 3-2 in SEC)
No. 4 Texas A&M returns to the Hildebrand Equine Complex for a senior day meet against No.5 Georgia. The meet begins at 11 a.m. CT, and it will not be televised. 

Soccer
Texas A&M begins its fall exhibition schedule with a double-header at Ellis Field on Saturday. 

  • Game 1: vs. Oklahoma - 12 p.m. CT, not televised
  • Game 2: vs. LSU - 4 p.m. CT, not televised
