During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the hardwood, the track, the softball diamond and beyond as there is plenty going on with Texas A&M Athletics.


Softball (5-0, 0-0 in SEC)
Jo Evans and Texas A&M opened the season with a perfect 5-0 weekend in the Aggie Classic at Davis Diamond, outscoring opponents 40-5 over the tournament that included four run-rule victories.

The Aggies travel to Huntsville on Wednesday to face Sam Houston State.

  • First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Equestrian (8-1, 4-0 in SEC)
No. 2 Texas A&M defeated No. 5 Georgia in a tightly-contested meet in Bishop, GA, as the Aggies earned their seventh consecutive victory and remained perfect in conference play.

  • Despite being tied 9-9, Texas A&M earned the win by the raw score, 1532-1523.
  • Emmy Lu Marsh defeated Jax Bound by a half-point (73-72.5) in reining to tie the meet 9-9. Marsh earned Most Outstanding Performer for her heroics.
  • Hanna Olaussen earned Most Outstanding Performer honors in Horsemanship.
  • Caroline Dance earned Most Outstanding Performer honors in Flat. It is Dance's third MOP recognition of the season.

The Aggies return to Aggieland next weekend as they host South Carolina at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.

  • The meet begins at 10 a.m. CT and will not be televised.

Men’s Basketball (15-10, 4-8 in SEC)
Texas A&M suffered its eighth consecutive loss as the Aggies fell to No. 1 Auburn on the road on Saturday, 75-58.

  • Quenton Jackson led a group of four Aggies in double figures with 11 points.
  • Tyrece Radford, Henry Coleman III and Wade Taylor IV each contributed 10 points.

The Aggies will be back at Reed Arena on Tuesday night as they host the Florida Gators.

  • Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.

Women's Basketball (14-10, 4-8 in SEC)
Gary Blair & Co. were upended by No. 14 LSU on Sunday afternoon, 74-58, as the Tigers snapped the Aggies’ modest three-game winning streak.

  • Kayla Wells led the way with 23 points.
  • Aaliyah Patty contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Aggies hit the road on Thursday as they travel to Oxford to face No. 25 Ole Miss.

  • Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.

Men's Tennis (5-0, 0-0 in SEC)
No. 12 Texas A&M survived on the road on Saturday as the Aggies defeated USF in Tampa, 4-3.

  • A&M lost the doubles point, 2-1.
  • Noah Schachter won his match over Chase Ferguson in straight sets (6-3, 7-6).
  • Raphael Perot won his match over Antonio Muniz in straight sets (6-2, 7-6).
  • Guido Marson won his match over Bruno Oliveira in straight sets (6-2, 6-1).
  • Guilio Perego won his match over Alvin Tudorica in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).

The Aggies will face Texas Tech on Tuesday in Dallas as they prepare for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Seattle this weekend.

  • A&M and Tech will begin at 2 p.m. CT, and the meet will not be televised.
  • The ITA National Team Championships begin on Friday.

Women’s Tennis (11-1, 0-0 in SEC)
No. 8 Texas A&M put together a 2-1 weekend in Madison, WI, at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

  • Friday: No. 4 California 4, No. 8 Texas A&M 3
    • A&M won the doubles point, 2-0.
    • Tatiana Makarova won her match over Valentina Ivanov in straight sets (6-1, 6-2).
    • Mary Stoiana won her match over Jessica Alsola in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
  • Saturday: No. 8 Texas A&M 4, No. 17 Old Dominion 1
    • A&M won the doubles point, 2-0.
    • Carson Branstine won her match over Tatsiana Sasnouskaya in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).
    • Makarova won her match over Marina Alcaide in straight sets (6-0, 6-3).
    • Gianna Pielet won her match over Alesya Yakubovich in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-3).
  • Sunday: No. 8 Texas A&M 4, No. 10 Southern California 1
    • A&M won the doubles point, 2-0.
    • Branstine won her match over No. 1 Eryn Cayetano in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).
    • Makarova won her match over Salma Ewing in straight sets (7-5, 6-4).
    • Jeanette Mireles won her match over McKenna Koenig in straight sets (6-0, 6-4).

Track & Field
Texas A&M was in action in two separate competitions this week as some Aggies participated in the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, while others competed in the Music City Challenge in Nashville.

  • Lamara Distin won the women's high jump at the Don Kirby with an NCAA-leading clearance of 1.92m. The clearance also sets the Jamaican national indoor record.

  • Deborah Acquah won the women's long jump at the Don Kirby with a leap of 6.61m.
  • Lance Broome won the men's 200m in Albuquerque with a time of 20.62.
  • Keanu Jones won the unseeded men's 200m with a time of 21.16.
  • Laila Owens won the women's 200m at the Don Kirby with a personal-best 23.00 to remain unbeaten.
  • Charokee Young won the women's 400m in New Mexico with a time of 51.24.
  • Kaylah Robinson won the women’s 60m hurdles with a time of 8.14.
  • Devon Achane won the men's 60m in New Mexico with a time of 6.63.

  • Chevannie Hanson won the men’s 400m in New Mexico with a time of 45.89.

Swimming & Diving
Both the men's and women's teams are in Knoxville as the Aggies prepare for the SEC Championships.

  • The meet begins on Tuesday, Feb. 15, and will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 19.
  • Friday’s and Saturday’s action will be streamed on the SEC Network+.

Men's Golf
No. 8 Texas A&M heads to Hawaii this week to play at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawaii.

  • The tournament begins on Thursday, Feb. 17, and will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 19.
