During Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio, the fishbowl's own Richard Zane joined to share updates from the latest in Aggie Athletics as a busy weekend is on tap in College Station with football, basketball, volleyball and more all in action.
Football (7-2, 4-2 in SEC)
On Monday, it was announced that both Tyree Johnson and Seth Small had earned SEC Player of the Week honors.
Tuesday night saw the unveiling of the second College Football Playoff Rankings, and the Aggies have moved up three spots to No. 11 following their 20-3 win over Auburn.
- Semifinalists will be announced on Dec. 2 with the three finalists being unveiled on Dec. 21. The winner will be announced on Jan. 10, 2022.
Offensive lineman Kenyon Green has been named one of four finalists for the 2021 Rotary Lombardi Award.
- Other finalists include Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson, Iowa’s Tyler Linerbaum and Iowa State’s Mike Rose.
- The winner will be announced on Dec. 8 at a reception in Houston.
- Dat Nguyen (1998) is the only Aggie to ever win the Lombardi Award.
No. 11 Texas A&M puts its four-game winning streak on the line as the Aggies travel to Oxford to face No. 15 Ole Miss.
- Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN.
- College Gameday will be in Oxford and will begin broadcasting at 8:00 a.m. CT from The Grove.
Women’s Basketball (2-0, 0-0 in SEC)
Gary Blair and No. 23 Texas A&M are off to a 2-0 start, winning a pair of games this week.
- Tuesday: No. 23 Texas A&M 87, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 54
- Kayla Wells had 18 points and 7 rebounds.
- Jordan Nixon had 17 points and 8 assists.
- All 14 players on Texas A&M’s roster saw the court.
- Thursday: No. 23 Texas A&M 92, Southern 32
- Before the game, the 2020-21 SEC Regular-Season Champion Aggies were presented with their championship rings.
- Five Aggies scored in double digits as Nixon led the scoring with 13. Also in double figures were Destiny Pitts (12), Sahara Jones (12), Wells (11) and Maliyah Johnson (10).
The Aggies have the weekend off and will return to Reed Arena on Monday night to face DePaul.
- Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on the SEC Network+.
Men’s Basketball (1-0, 0-0 in SEC)
The Aggies opened the 2021-22 season on Wednesday night with a 64-46 win over North Florida at Reed Arena.
- In place of a suspended Buzz Williams, acting head coach Devin Johnson earned his first career win.
- Duke transfer Henry Coleman III scored 27 points to go along with 7 rebounds in his A&M debut.
- Wyoming transfer Marcus Williams added 11 points with 5 assists.
The Maroon & White hosts a pair of games this weekend in Bryan-College Station.

- Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on the SEC Network+.
- Sunday: Texas A&M vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

- Buzz Williams will return to coach the Aggies after serving his two-game suspension.
Volleyball (12-10, 5-7 in SEC)
After having the week off, Bird Kuhn & Co. return to the court this weekend as they travel to Lexington for a pair of matches with No. 7 Kentucky.
- Saturday: First-set is set for 3:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on the SEC Network+.
- Sunday: First-set is set for 1:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on the SEC Network.
Cross Country
Texas A&M is running in the NCAA South Central Regional on Friday morning at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco, Texas.
- Women’s 6K race begins at 10:00 a.m. CT
- Men’s 10K race begins at 11:00 a.m.
- It is the first time in program history that the Aggies have entered a race at the 10K distance.
- The races will not be televised, but @aggietfxc on Twitter will provide frequent updates.
Equestrian (3-1, 2-0 in SEC)
No. 4 Texas A&M travels to the state of Tennessee this week for back-to-back meets beginning on Friday. Both meets will be held at the McWherter Agricultural Pavilion in Martin, Tennessee.
- Friday: No. 4 Texas A&M vs. UT Martin - 10:00 a.m. CT
- Saturday: No. 4 Texas A&M vs. Lynchburg - 10:00 p.m. CT
- Jumping seat only.
The Aggies’ next home meet will be Thursday, Nov. 18, when they host Auburn at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
Swimming & Diving
For their performances vs. TCU in a dual meet, Kurtis Mathews and Aimee Wilson earned the SEC's Men’s and Women’s Divers of the Week honors, respectively.
- Mathews won two events, scoring a 431.93 in the 3-meter and a 435.00 in the 1-meter.
- Wilson also won two events, scoring a 363.08 on the 3-meter and a 328.28 on the 1-meter.
Women's Tennis
The Aggies are playing in their final event of the fall slate as they host the 2021 Texas A&M Fall Invitational this weekend at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in Bryan-College Station.
- The event begins on Friday, Nov. 12, and concluded on Sunday, Nov. 14.
- Also playing in the tournament are Arkansas, Baylor, LSU and Princeton.
Men’s & Women’s Golf
At last week’s Spirit Invitational, Sam Bennett won the men’s individual title representing the United States.
- Bennett finished with a 6-under 210 to win the event.
- Team USA finished 28-under for the week to earn the team victory, winning by 21 strokes over Canada (7-under).
On the women’s side, France’s Adela Cernousek finished eighth on the women’s side, carding an even-par 216.
- Texas A&M was one of three schools to have two-or-more golfers inside the top 15.
National Signing Day
Thursday was National Signing Day for non-football sports, and across Texas A&M Athletics, a number of high school seniors signed the National Letter of Intent with the Maroon & White.
