During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the diamonds, the tennis courts and beyond following a busy weekend for the Maroon & White.


Baseball (29-27, 9-21 in SEC play)
Texas A&M finished the regular season this weekend by dropping two out of three to LSU at Olsen Field.

On Sunday morning, it was announced that Rob Childress will not return as head coach in 2021.

  • In 16 seasons at Texas A&M, Childress won 622 games, six conference championships and made two trips to the College World Series.
  • Childress ranks third in wins in program history behind Mark Johnson (876) and Tom Chandler (660).

Softball (32-23, 8-16 in SEC play)
Texas A&M finished the 2021 season with a 1-2 showing in the Norman Regional this weekend.

Men’s Tennis (19-9, 7-5 in SEC play)
The NCAA Individual Championships began on May 23 at the USTA Campus in Orlando, and the Aggies had three representatives in the singles competition as well as a pairing in the doubles competition.

The NCAA doubles draw opens on Monday.

  • The eighth-ranked pairing of Aguilar and Bjorn Thompson faces No. 10 Daniel Cukierman and Riley Smith at 5:00 p.m. CT.

Women’s Tennis (21-8, 9-4 in SEC play)
The NCAA Individual Championships began on May 23 at the USTA Campus in Orlando, and the Aggies have one representative in the singles competition as well as a pairing in the doubles competition.

Makarova joins Jayci Goldsmith for NCAA doubles competition, beginning on Monday.

  • A&M’s 20th-ranked pairing will face the No. 15 duo of Maya Tahan and Diana Khodan from Miami (FL) on Monday.

Track & Field
The Aggies will host the NCAA West Prelims at E.B. Cushing Stadium, beginning Wednesday, May 26. All four days will be streamed on the SEC Network+.

  • Wednesday, May 26: Field events begin at 1:30 p.m. CT, running events begin at 6:00 p.m. CT.
  • Thursday, May 27: Field events begin at 1:30 p.m. CT, running events begin at 6:00 p.m. CT.
  • Friday, May 28: Field events begin at 1:00 p.m. CT, running events begin at 5:30 p.m. CT.
  • Saturday, May 29: Field events begin at 1:00 p.m. CT, running events begin at 5:30 p.m. CT.
