Completely agree. This is his year. He has the players, the easy schedule, and his system in place. No nit and he gone

NIT has auto-bids and the selection is somewhat political (in terms of selecting teams that will sell tickets), so it actually is a bit harder than you think to get into the NIT. Team probably needs to go at minimum 9-9 in conference and probably more like 10-8, and finish in the upper half of the standings.

Making the NIT shouldn't lead to him automatically being brought back.

If it takes a coach 4 years to get a perennial tournament team back to the NCAA field of 64, then he's not the long-term solution.

NCAA's or see ya.

I think saying ncaa or bust is setting Kennedy up for failure. Only UK and UF have the talent to demand this. This isn't anymore than a 4 bid league. I really think it's a 3 bid league. Besides UK and UF, LSU and Arkansas have more size and talent. This should be a middle of the pack SEC team, that won't get you in the tourney.

All that matters is the minimum bar for 3rd season that has been set is NIT. Does not matter if any TexAgs posters think should be higher.

Enough of these threads already!! WE ALL GET IT! Why don't you just shut up and enjoy the season to come, or not enjoy it, that is up to you. Support the team, we all know what could be on the line for Kennedy.

Seems to be lots of people in the know letting cats out of bags. I guess that is common nowadays.

The one and done rule creates Up-talent and down-talent years in college basketball.

Last year was the valley of down-talent; that's why an experienced team(which is a nice way of saying NBA rejects) won the title.

This year is the peak of up-talent year. That's why its unfair to expect the NCAA tournament bid. Use the NIT as a stepping stone to get into next year's Big Dance. 2015 promises to be down-talent, and by 2016 we can hopefully have the talent to compete in up-talent year.

Extremely difficult school to recruit to. Look the AD needs to look himself in the eye as well. They do very little to draw attraction to the team. They never did when the team was good either. Awful fan base that doesn't show up even when the team is good. I'm pulling for Kennedy.

Turgeon struggled to recruit here, goes to Maryland and is killing it. Of course Maryland is a better basketball school. But explain to me how TCU and LSU out recruit us as well? Georgia, Oklahoma,Baylor,Houston and Alabama. At some point you either take a look in the mirror and except that you are what you are or you fix it. It's always Turgeon's fault according to TexAgs, as if he just simply hated it here so much he refused to recruit. I think he tried and found it extremely difficult do to many reasons.

Putting this kind of news out there now is definitely not going to help recruiting. It puts an early damper on recruits looking at A&M. Looks like the people in the know could keep their mouths shut when they need to. Reminds me of how Sherman found out his fate...in the driveway of a recruit. Hopefully, the team has a good season. But,this kind of "news" is just one more thorn in the side.

Turgeon recruited so poorly that (a healthy) 2011-2012 team was voted by the COACHES (not interwebz posters at a football school) of the B12 to win the conference.

I'm extremely weary of Hyman as an AD. And if he really said this I'm really worried. Why would you put that out there? You might as well fire Kennedy now.

If you really think that Kennedy's first team was a top big 12 team I feel sorry for you. Coaches did this as a parting shot to the Aggies as they left the league.

who is saying Hyman leaked that? If he had a conversation like that with BK to let him and his staff be on notice(which I hope like hell he did) then there are a lot of people inside the AD that would know about it that could leak that information.

I'm not concerned at all about that coming out. It has been leaked all summer that Mack, Soggy, and Ricky B were put on notice by Dodds and the powers that be at tu. Nothing wrong with that. Under-performing coaches need to be told when the line is close to breaking IMO.

I agree about Hyman.

This should have been kept between him and the coach.

it's Hyman's responsibility to keep those people from talking.

I have a lot of respect for mhayden but reading his posts makes me think that we have a rich basketball tradition here at A&M instead of one small little blip on the radar that he's even acknowledged would have ended had Turge stayed one more season.

Our athletic department has had problems with this for a long time. Looks like Hyman is learning that lesson the hard way. It's up to him to get that shaped up.

NIT is too low a bar for year 3, his team and SOS so weak it would make a YMCA youth team blush.

Never understood why we tolerate less than even mediocrity in such a high profile sport.

I'm rooting for Kennedy. All the people out there resigned to just running out the clock are laughable. This school is completely unwilling to do what ever is necessary to have a top flight basketball program. Best of luck pulling another mid major type coach in here. The next Gillispie is going to be hard to find.

This is exactly why I'm hoping and rooting for Kennedy, because the alternatives don't look all that great. There is a coach that would come here and would win here, he would fit in perfectly here, a sober and saner version of Gillispie. Sadly he is to rich for our blood. So fire away XL,and all you others, good night you had better pray Kennedy works out.

Facilities!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so backwards how this school operates. I would rather spend insane amounts of money on a coach and than worry about the facilities! What good have they done us? Something is sour and it's not all Kennedy.

A small Catholic school in the midwest has more money for a basketball coach than a school of 55,000+. I'm pulling for Kennedy as starting over with another crapshoot sucks. Because that's all this school is willing to pay for.

BK actually has OK talent this year and spread among 1-5. Caruso can play point wing. I just don't know if BK can coach them up to par.

The soft OOC schedule may allow us to develop without a lot of nicks.
