The good news is- we were swept by SMU last year and things turned out ok.

We lost 3 regular season matches last year, picked up 2 this first weekend and we will face tougher teams in non conference. A little disheartening to show up to a huge national showcase and deliver like this. I know we'll be okay and we'll absolutely get better, but it's not fun starting the year off like this, getting whooped on national tv and having to hear how they're beating the reigning national champions. This is not our standard.

If we lose a football game because a key player or two are out, there will be no grace. Same for other sports like volleyball. They will just look at the score board and see a W or L.

At least in volleyball, a negative result or two isn't going to keep you out of the championship tournament but in football it might.

We'll be okay, I know it! I still think the ceiling for this is unbelievably high and a lot of that has to do with this coaching staff and this culture. Especially after last season, I feel Jamie is building this team for December, have some faith in the people who got us to the mountain top last season. I know it stings now because of all the excitement and build up after winning it all, but it's a process and I know we'll be okay! We were all excited to see our Aggies on the court again and it still was great seeing them out there despite the outcome. A bump to start the season, but absolutely no reason to lose faith or confidence. We'll bounce back, I guarantee it!

Couldn't handle soft tips

Back row players consistently out of position

Spiked straight into hands of blockers even when only 1 blocker

Lazy getting 2 blockers into position- hands not positioned correctly

Really Bad timing on service net errors

Lack of both defensive and offensive energy

SMU players had more physicality, energy and athleticism. They were bigger and stronger….not surprising we were dominated….

Setting looked improved to our pins. Musgrove pushed the sets out for Ring and Fitch. Blocking is going to take time. Logan and Ifenna had 4 years together to form an unstoppable wall. That's going to take time.

I'm really excited about Sharp. I thought Castle was going to be the easy choice for MB1, but I think Eliza is so much more powerful and explosive. Morris looks really good at Opp. Just needs some experience. Come NCAA tournament, she's going to be a go to.


I'm not sure a 5-2 is going to work for us. I think we need to go with either Lily and Kirra. There isn't a huge difference between the two after these two matches. There is just not enough continuity on the court when we switch them out.

Blocking, blocking, blocking. That's all they need to work on this week. OH/RS did not set the perimeter, either too slow responding to quick sets or misreading. Middles very slow to get over. It didn't even matter where the SMU hitter targeted. The ball is going through holes or above fingers due to low elevation.

Louisville exposed it and exploited it. SMU didn't even have to exploit, just swing away.

Backrow probably didn't know where to cover. I don't remember thinking too many "bad dig" thoughts.

Every hitter was getting blocked. I don't have enough vball IQ to understand why. Set location/tempo? Too tight? Hitters too shy or unable to read the block? That was really frustrating to see. Probably how some of our opponents last year felt against us. SMU blocking basically won them the game. #2 would be their excellent serving game.

Anyone else think we run the slide too much? Sometimes felt very forced and maybe a bit slow.

Anyway, tough losses to start the season. Was hoping for a more cohesive team. If Morrison is the type of coach I think he is, he probably looking forward to figuring out and coaching this group of young ladies.

Surprised to see this kind of post from you. Hard to lose someone like Kendall with no prep time to adjust. Honestly, part of me wants to think Jamie wanted to hold Kendall back to keep these teams from getting looks at her early and to also challenge the team with adversity.

Intentional or not, a little humble pie early won't hurt. The pieces are there and Jamie I feel like does a better job than anyone in the business to keep the goal focused on peaking at post-season time.

We attended the game here in Waco vs Baylor. Thought we looked pretty good with Kendall in minus defense being suspect at times. Lots of season and fun ahead!

If anyone hasnt gone through back injuries, don't get your hopes up about the recovery being measured in days or weeks. It's months and then years and it still will not be 100%. Watching how she sat did not look like a small tweak. That looked like a nerve still being contacted. That's not a "precautionary" benching like Jamie said. She would have been unable to play. At first it feels so so when it first tweaks...then give it a day for the inflammation to set in and it will feel like someone poured concrete into your spine. If it's anything like a compressed disc there's some hope that spine injections could get her through the season.

The best thing going for her is how magic bodies heal when you are in your early 20s but nerve pain is a recurring thing and I'd honestly be surprised if we we have her consistently the rest of the season.

Time for the replacements to step up for the long haul

I've pulled a back muscle on a few occasion and was fine. As long as it's just muscular it's no different than any other pulled muscle. We'll see…but I do agree she didn't seem capable of going last night.
