I think most are assuming at this point the # of breakthrough cases is going under-reported, but the key is breakthrough cases that wind up in hospitalization.

The number of breakthrough cases should be alarming no?
How many of these positive covid cases were once simple colds or allergies that we all dealt with from time to time but now are testing for covid? If covid is never going away and vaccines only slow transmission for a period of time, what are the next steps?
Helps with herd immunity if we have more cases that are minor.

Breakthrough or not.

My 2 cents.

Of which there seem to be very few. I wish this data was more accessible.

Like I said, without the loss of smell I'm at work. I can't tell I'm sick other than that and the congestion which I deal with after I mow every week.

Main difference is the congestion. This is just pressure off and on with no mucus.

It might get a little worse (yet not serious) for you guys, but hopefully not. Here's my progression so far. I'm 39 and in good health:

June 2021 - Vaccinated w/ J&J
8/18 - child gets tested for COVID due to mild symptoms
8/19 - child test is positive, I get tested due to headache
8/20 - I get additional COVID symptoms, mild fever
8/21 - continued mild symptoms, lose smell
8/22 - my test comes back positive (lol), chest congestion/tightness. Other than that, felt fine. Went for run in the sun.
8/23 - lite fever, sweats, chills, diarrehea. Then I felt fine and went and exercised.
8/24 - Felt good in the morning with continued tightness in chest. Went to Dr for steroid. Got flu-like symptoms at night; maybe my worst night yet.
8/25 - morning flu-like sickness, lots of sweating. Almost no congestion or chest tightness. Feeling great mid-day, just pouring sweat.

My suggestion (too late now) is to not attempt to exercise at all or do any yard work, etc. during a suspected Covid bout. I learned the hard way - thought I was feeling fine minus the minor symptoms, did extensive yard work and winded up get my arse kicked in the next day. Felt like crap for a couple days after that - the fatigue is no joke!

So, do I expect to feel worse?

I think that's what's weird to me, I'm not even remotely achy or tired like I normally am when I'm sick.

If anything I feel better than I did yesterday.

I feel the same way as KlinkerAg11.

My symptoms started around 8/17-8/18, but didn't get tested until 8/24 due to thinking it was only allergies or a cold.

I'm hoping that I don't have any other symptoms moving forward. The physician told me that I should be able to return to normal on 8/27, such as going to the office and out in public.

If I think about it, it basically started for me on Sunday, very scratchy throat. I felt like I had to cough.

Got a little worse Monday, felt really congested yesterday, lost smell this morning and congestion is lifting.

Dont necessarily expect it. But also don't be surprised if you do go up and down.

Thanks. I'm wondering if I made things worse for myself. I was also being told to get some sun and stay active, so I decided a few miles of pushing myself with no shirt or sunblock was even better!

Gotcha, appreciate it.

So far so good, hope it stays that way, if not I'll push through.

Kind of.

Most my students wear masks, and I wear a mask when I sit down and help the students or bend over to help them.

When I'm at the front talking I'll take it off, so not really masked well on my part. But my students are like 80 percent masked.
Partial masking is pretty useless, obviously!

Shocking you chose to respond to that rather than the religious maskers that somehow still got infected.

Jesus Gac, it's not that surprising that a school nurse likely seeing Covid positive kid after Covid positive kid all day long got Covid even while wearing a mask.

Of course. There's always an excuse. No mask, of course you got it! Mask 24/7? Obviously there's some other reason. Always goaltending

Is it though? Number of breakthrough cases would be very valuable information considering it seems, at least with delta, that breakthrough infections carry the same viral load as unvaccinated infections. That means we don't really know the impact of vaccines on the spread and development of variants.

I think that would be a valuable thing to understand since there seems to be fear that eventually there will be a variant that the vaccine won't cover.

Get a pulse oximeter at your local CVS/Walgreens and constantly check your blood oxygen levels.

Many don't feel out of breath even when their blood oxygen levels plunge to beneath 90. At which point you SHOULD be going to the ER.

It's critical to get early intervention if your blood oxygen levels are low.
Chill dude. This is like May 2020 advice. Everyone knows.

Your course illness sounds a lot like my course OP. I was fully vaccinated back in January but caught the rona in late July. Loss of taste/smell lasted a couple of weeks.

My taste is now leaving me, just taste salt now.

I feel fine besides that, congestion is getting better. Still haven't run fever or felt "sick" if that makes any sense

Plan on taking what I call a NyQuil nap tonight and blast the vaporizer for good measure.

That never stopped me

I discovered I had covid smoking a cigar. I confirmed it by not tasting a cookie. I finished both.

I asked for vegetables but just got old freezer burnt lasagna and such.

I isolated with rolling rock and Busch. Weather was nice so I grabbed a rake. Lawn has never looked better. Ended up being a nice vacation.

It sounds like you have exactly what I had.

Had cold like symptoms. Never would have gotten tested if I hadn't lost my smell. Congestion hung around for a bit, and smell came back mostly within a couple days.

Get some quercetin and zinc and take it consistently. I think it helped with my smell.

Does everyone lose taste and smell from covid? Are vaccinated people less likely to lose taste and smell or is it about the same?

Exactly, clear out all those IPA's your "cool friends" brought over but no one ever drinks!

I'm convinced nobody really likes an IPA.

Agree with this. Some people are going to get COVID-19 due to elevated virus exposure. Happens to healthcare workers taking care of these patients too. No prevention method (PPE or vaccine) is 100% going to keep you from being inoculated when you're exposed to so many viral particles. And some of those that are inoculated are going to go on and have infections.

Subtlety and nuance are sometimes lost on the Forum 16 crowd.

Go to the Dr and get
Ivermectin
HCQ
Zinc
Doxy

You probably Won't be sick for more than 3 to 4 days .. the entire county of India did that and guess what.. they are kicking Covids ass

These vaccines don't work .. except they help spread the disease faster per Isreal scientific researchers.. 27 times faster spread if you got your vax !

If you want proof.. read up on India and how they have kicked Covids ass .. it's all over Twitter and the internet ..

Nothing to report but a good nights sleep.

No fever no aches and I slept well.

Congestion is all but gone, just no smell and my taste is f'd.

My Coffee taste....strange.

So far my biggest issue is smell and taste. Without that i'm nearly without symptoms.

The Vaccine is winning.
