And you're familiar with this smell how?

I'm trying to be active but not push myself too hard.

I'd love to go lift weights in my garage but I know it's unwise.

I'll just walk for 30 minutes in my backyard instead.

Question for the doctors: now that I've had Covid and I'm fully vaccinated I'm good for a while right?

Not sure I'm going to need a booster.

I am a veterinarian. We cauterize a lot of skin growths and use a lot of electrosurgery. I am intimately familiar with burning flesh.

I am trying a new thing where I be respectful of people's opinions even if I don't agree with them.

You make some claims here that I'm interested in learning more about. Would you happen to have some factual sources for these claims so that I may further research?

Facebook posts and MJG tweets need not apply.

I now have a new symptom, an annoying ringing in my ears.

Congestion is better, but I can tell it's still there, it's hard hear more than breathe if that makes sense.

Still feel fine, not sick, just having odd symptoms I've never had in life, like the smell/taste. I've had ear ringing before but only when my heads stopped up, or I just went to a concert.

I am about 24 hours behind OP. Similar circumstances, same vaccine.

Taste and smell good so far. Feels like a cold or minor flu. Little bit of hot and cold flashing last night but never a fever. Oxygen is good.

Thankfully I drastically changed my life a couple of years ago and am in considerable better physical condition now.

Pretty sure I have it. Getting my hands on a rapid test this afternoon. Vaccinated with Pfizer in March.

35 yrs old. Active.

8/22 A little congested. No big deal. Had a rough night of sleep.

8/23 Still congested. A little chest tightness. Did a cardio workout in the afternoon. Seemed to open things up and felt better. 2nd rough night of sleep.

8/24 Morning workout. Still congested. A few chills here and there & somewhat achy but nothing major. 3rd rough night of sleep.

8/25 Congestion seems to be waning. Still some random chills. Afternoon cardio. Slept great!

8/26 Cant smell or taste my coffee. Congestion still there but hard to notice. In general, feeling the best I have since Saturday.

Not sure what else I am in for, but hoping I am on the downhill side.

Will report back after my test later today.

Quote:

How India's COVID-19 crisis became the worst in the world

New variants and relaxed public health measures likely fueled the country's surge

This is what it's like to be in the hardest-hit state in the country now hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. Although Ellitam's father secured a bed in Surabhi Hospital a day later, scenes like this and far worse are playing out hundreds of thousands of times every day across India. As its second wave of COVID-19 sweeps through, India recorded more than 400,000 daily new cases on May 6 the largest single-day spike in the world and its highest daily death toll of 4,187, a day later. Those numbers are predicted to soar even higher in the coming days.

Dire SOS pleas from doctors, patients and their loved ones in need of hospital beds, oxygen and medication have flooded social media platforms. In Pune, one of the worst-hit cities in India, the wailing sirens of ambulances have become a macabre feature of the city's soundscape. In many parts of the country, family members are shedding tears of despair outside of hospitals as they beg for medical attention for their dying kin.

"We don't have enough ward beds, we don't have enough ICU beds, and we're running out of ventilators," said Sumit Ray, a critical care specialist at Holy Family Hospital in India's capital city of New Delhi. "People are coming into the ER requiring huge amounts of oxygen support, and we were on the edge of running out."

Like many others in India, Ray is somewhat baffled by the seemingly sudden COVID-19 surge. In an unprecedented move, hundreds of scientists sent a plea on April 30 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking to ramp up data collection and allow access to already collected COVID-19 data. These scientists say more data are needed to understand how the coronavirus is spreading, manage the outbreak and predict what's to come.

Afternoon update:

Still feel fine. I have yet to have aches pain or fever. Only issue now really is my smell and taste. I will have times I am congested if i sit down, but if i go into my backyard and move around the congestion will leave for hours at a time.

Trying to piece together a timeline of my infection for you folks: I can think back to Friday if i'm being honest, woke up with a headache and felt nauseated around 3 am, had "the poops" and couldn't go back to sleep. Chalked that up to the massive amount of vitamins I had been taking. Really was able to bounce back fine and have a good day. The next day i was incredibly tired, but chalked that up to the first week of school.

Really noticed cold like symptoms starting the next day on Sunday and i lost my smell on Wednesday morning.

So, either this started Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Currently feeling very normal and wondering if i'm past it.

Just a pro tip I figured out, chick fil a is a good choice when you have Covid loss of smell and taste.

Hits two tastes, sweet and salty so it's more palatable.

Morning update:

Slept great again, not an ache pain or fever. No congestion, can feel it a little in my ears but I have to think about it to notice it.

Easiest sick time I've taken at home.

Last night I felt "fresh" air in my right nostril, took a deep breath of a candle and could get a slight smell of it.

Currently this morning smell is back to zero but I am getting that same "fresh air" sensation in my nose.

I think I'm about ready to call this a win and that I'm over covid. Please get Vaccinated if you haven't. It really works, turned this into a nothing event for me. It truly was a "nothing burger" but only because of the vaccine.

Not as bad as yesterday. Still the pressure in head but less body aches. Slept ok but did take some cold and flu meds. The HBP ones (type 1 here) so they aren't nearly as potent.

I feel taste may be dulling. Haven't tried to smell anything I know for sure would have a scent, but also haven't smelled anything so that may be gone at the moment.

Great news KlinkerAg and bigjag19.

I'm now starting to get my taste back today. I still have no sense of smell. It is such an odd feeling to not be able to smell anything.

Hoping we can continue to have a "mild" case and get back to normal quickly.

Unfortunately we can't attribute your minor case to the vaccine.
We can surmise that it is contributing. Pre-vaccine many of the cases, perhaps the vast majority, were minor.
So we have the classic "chicken or the egg" dilemma.
The vaccine certainly has a good placebo effect.

Why is it unwise? When I had Covid, before I vaccinated, I kept on training. Pulled a PR on deads. Did take it easy of squats though by doing about 80% 5 Rep max (twist my arm-squats and I have a love/hate relationship) and just listened to my body. Honestly only felt a tiny bit of extra exhaustion. Trained relatively hard a whole week. By the next Saturday I had a monster day. Non stop energy and felt honestly better than ever. I personally and obviously anecdotally feel that part of my recovery was the fact I didn't let myself stop training. It had a lot to do with why I crushed Covid. For the record I was and still am 47 years old.

It's a big reason why I didn't get tested initially as I figured if I can train through it, can't be Covid. Sure enough, it was Covid.

You know, I had to think about why I think that.

It's my mother. Every time I was sick and got better my mom would tell me not to push myself or I might get sick again.

Didn't even realize why I thought that. I think I'm going to lift weights today, I miss it!

Something else I thought I'd add after a conversation I had yesterday.

I was in my front yard yesterday when my neighbor asked why I was home and told her I had Covid but was getting over it and doing fine. Her response "no wonder, you work out all the time"

I definitely think the health your in at the time helps, seems like common sense but I think how much you work out can help you kick covids ass. Along with the vaccine, my age, and health I think it made it mild for me.

I know a lady my age who is also vaccinated but is recovering much slower. Only difference is she's very unhealthy.

The number of breakthrough cases should be alarming no?
How many of these positive covid cases were once simple colds or allergies that we all dealt with from time to time but now are testing for covid? If covid is never going away and vaccines only slow transmission for a period of time, what are the next steps?
I think breakthrough cases are good as long as folks are minimally ill. Better herd immunity.

OP, your experience sounds very similar to mine. I had Pfizer in March/April and got COVID last month. I think the only reason why I got sick is because I was also on antibiotics for something else so my immune system was already low.

It was just runny nose and sneezing for 5 days, which I thought was allergies because I was around cats that week. Lost my smell about 6 days in and then by the 8th day it was back. Same like the others, only tested once smell went away. After the runny nose was over, it was just several days of sinus pressure and a bit of a headache, but that's about it. I had no fever or felt anything in my chest, it was all head cold.

Was with my husband the whole time (had Pfizer same time as me) and he never got sick. He works out almost daily, I'm more like 4-5x a week but still active enough.

Great to hear you had a good round and are doing better.

Debating whether to get tested. I am vaccinated. Went to a large indoor event in Las Vegas last weekend (and I wore a mask) and a couple of days ago nasal passage became irritated and have been since then. No congestion, no runny nose or any other symptom. I have been taking allergy pills and feel this may have dried and irritated my nasal passages. Just don't want to get anyone sick. I have been semi isolating.

I got that way coming back from Vegas before covid. I blame it on the cigarette smoke.
