Do they send a text with a ID# for subsequent draws? I did the survey but haven't received notification to have blood drawn?

I got a follow up text after doing the survey for my second draw and it was a different requisition ID number than my first draw

If they work for UT they are likely on Thanksgiving break.

I know the program is closed currently to new members but is it still open for additional antibody tests for those that completed the first 3?

Yes. Just got the text to get my 3rd yesterday

Not that I have seen. I had my last one awhile ago and emailed asking about extending the time. The said they would let me know.

Will most PCPs do antibody testing? I know Rev will in his office.

I think most places will, just isn't a free study anymore.

I just did my 2nd draw and still haven't gotten Covid N is negative but my S went up. 694 in Sept and 928. Not a huge jump. Got the J&J single in April.

Seems odd that it would go up over time especially since the first draw was 5 months after the shot.
Wondering if there is a range of variability for the test numbers? I would have thought the antibody level would go down since that seems to be the justification for encouraging boosters.

Anyone have any thoughts or read anything on this?

That is very odd. There is not much variability in the test they are generally accurate. Just to be clear:

April 2021- J&J shot
Sept 2021- Titers 694
November 2021- Titers 928

That is very odd, maybe J&J just takes longer to ramp up? I haven't seen many titer results from them.

april 1 was my 2nd dose of Pfizer

903 on my S protein 7-26.

713 11-30.

Negative on N protein both times, but my kid caught covid from school last month. Apparently his mom and I did a good job with our quarantine procedures.

Yes.

Shot in early April, then first test in mid Sept and last one yesterday and the Titer when up between the first and 2nd blood draw.

I thought it was odd unless J&J works different than the others but the news said it reduced in efficacy that is why they were encouraging people who got the J&J to get a second shot. Personally I think J&J probably should have been a 2 shot series but they were trying to get it to market I think.

Also, negative N test both times.

#1 draw on 8/9
#2 draw on 12/1

S: >2500 for #1 and #2
N: #1: 4.6
#2: 8.9

Had a very mild COVID in the second half of July, and Pfizer #2 was April. Looks like no booster needed for me. Crazy how my natural infection had such a tiny response, but makes sense with how mild my symptoms were.

For all intensive porpoises, no… but Technically some still there but if value is less than 1.0 (mine was .10). Then it registers as negative.

I don't put much stock in just antibodies tho. I think T cell memory is key to long term immunity as I have had multiple known exposures since having covid and not caught it again, with nearly zero precautions taken. (Plus I have 3/5 kids in elementary school… I'm sure they would have exposed me too)

Your envelope antibodies are gone but your spike is still off the chart high (literally). That will prevent infection and not just severe infection it should neutralize it quickly. That is why they are called neutralizing antibodies.

I'm not discounting T cells but they mostly prevent severe systemic infection, not from the beginning. Kinda like reserve troops vs a guard standing at the door.

Should I be concerned about this? For reference I had my 2nd Moderna shot on March 3rd. On September 7th I had my first TC draw and my number for SARS-CoV-2, Total Ab, S Protein Quant was 2235. I had a Moderna Booster on November 3rd. I then had my second draw at TC on December 1st. and my number for SARS-CoV-2, Total Ab, S Protein Quant was 173. How much protection do I really have? I've messaged my Dr. but haven't heard back yet. Any reliable input would be appreciated.

That sounds incorrect. Surely it didn't go down drastically after booster.

Mine went from 2500 down to 2300 between tests without a booster.

I thought the same thing too. I'm also in the BADAS study that Texas A&M physicians are part of. I'm suppose to go have a blood draw next week. I'm going to see if they test for this or could they retest me. Just seemed real drastic.

You should get a booster soon. Personally I'm waiting for the likely omicron booster early next year as long as my titers I'm getting done Wednesday are still good.

I'm curious what I should do. I'm fully vaccinated and had Covid In September.

Do I just wait it out and see if I need anything coming late spring, or should I be good for longer?

I'm a 33 year old male in good shape.

Oh sorry Farm I missed that. No I would not get another one. It likely is still going up. Peak Ig's don't hit until 6-8 weeks after exposure/shot.

If your next draw is not really high though I would suspect you got a bad booster. I'm not sure how often that happens but these mRNA vaccines are pretty temperature sensitive and if not stored/transported properly they won't work.

Two options:

1) Get a titer- then you can make an informed decision.

2) When were you vaccinated? If nearing 12 months ago consider vaccine. If less then wait for the nearly inevitable Omicron variant booster in Feb/March 2022.

Honest question... it sure sounds like our current vaccines are working against the Omnicron and it is a very mild variant so far. Why would anyone really need to wait for an "Omnicron booster"? Hell by that point, how many other variants are we going to have moved on to? By next year, Omicron is probably going to be yesterday's news.

We really don't know how our current vaccines are working on Omicron. We will know within a month. I'm just reading the tea leaves and expecting a booster because it has changed so much in the spike protein region, 32 mutations relative to 9 on Delta. Most experts think the vaccines are going to be very dubious to Omicron although you should still get a delayed T cell reaction once it gets cooking.

Omicron vs. Delta: What we know (mercurynews.com)

From that article:

Quote:

It shares similar mutations with the earlier beta and gamma variants, which are more resistant to vaccination than Delta. We'll know much more about this risk in several weeks, when lab work is done. Scientists are particularly interested in comparing omicron's fate against the antibodies made by people who only got two doses of vaccine versus those who got two doses, plus a booster.

But the omicron infection in a vaccinated San Francisco resident suggests that two doses, alone, won't protect us. Additionally, a newly released study of epidemiological data from South Africa shows a three-fold increase in risk for reinfection due to omicron, when compared to Delta.

I was fully vaccinated in April. I think it holds with the timeline of me being able to wait it out for a possible variant specific booster if needed.
