Got my first draw yesterday and results this morning. 35, male, Moderna 2nd vaccine was Jan 28 early this year. Pos for Spike protein at 883, negative for N protein. No known direct COVID exposures since this has started.

Looks like a pretty strong (N) correlation to severity of illness. My N was about 10x higher than yours, as I was bed ridden off and on with fever for 3-4 days. Then those hospitalized had much higher N than me.

Can't wait to see more data. Right now it could be that immune compromised bodies get a worse infection and put up a stronger fight. So 2 equally healthy people might have a different infection and immune response simply based on their level of sleep/stress at time of infection. Haven't seen a doctor say that yet, but seems plausible.

Thanks OP for the link. I signed up and my blood lit up with antibodies like a Christmas tree in Fauci's living room.

my wife got first antibody test three weeks after getting mild covid. Her first number was low, but the second three months later were much higher, so I assume it takes time for them to build up.

Good thoughts @thirdcoast and @tabasco. Should be interesting to see how the next one goes!

Question from an old technologically challenged guy. I had the Moderna second dose in Late January. Thanks to this forum I got the antibodies test. Just not sure what the results mean. Any help with interpretation is appreciated. Specifically the question is should I get the 3rd shot or is my immunity still sufficient - pretty sure I qualify.

N- Test: NEGATIVE
SPIKE PROTEIN: POSITIVE
SPIKE QUANTITATIVE 394

I had Covid in October 2020, but didn't require hospitalization, and didn't have a cough until the last day I was sick. I have not taken a vaccine.

Total antibodies declined from 30.4 in February to 20.7 in May to 12.6 in August.

Spike protein went from 1276 in May to 1140 in August.

I don't wear a mask, and I have been to several events with large crowds of unmasked people.

This means you have a great response to the mRNA vaccine and no evidence of wild immunity.

Wife, daughter, and I had draw #3 early August. I told my wife "too bad we can't keep doing this to watch our antibody numbers over time." She emailed them (from email on text that asks if you have any questions) and asked if there were any other studies going on and/or if we could continue. They responded almost immediately, and were excited/thankful she asked, as they are doing longer term antibody studies, and will contact us for further instructions. So if you want to keep getting antibodies tested after draw 3, email them.

Been tracking this thread and goy my wife signed up for this. She's got some auto immune issues, so we thought this would be good info to have before she talks to her doctor about a booster.

First draw was yesterday and I received the text today. I had already signed up for the online account and I see the 48-hour message. Should I wait 48 hours to see if the full results show up or go ahead and call?

I would go ahead and call. I had to call a couple of times. My address was incorrect at first (CPL said that the Texas Cares interface with CPL often had address problems). For my last test, the lab had entered my birthday incorrectly.

So for this...is it as simple as it seems? Sign up online and just go to the clinic and give blood? Are there long waits etc once you arrive or is it pretty quick?

Thank you for your participation in Texas CARES! We are in the process of extending the number of blood draws for participants. We hope to add 3 additional tests after participants complete the original tests. Once this is approved, we will reach out to you after you have your third blood draw.

Walk in without an appointment, fill a sheet of paper out with about 7 questions, and they take your blood. Usually less than 10 minutes from start to finish, at least at my local clinic.

very quick. Short questionnaire online, and they text you pretty close to immediately. You can go to any CPL lab and just walk in, no appointment necessary. Of my three times, as well as my wife's three times (we went separate, but to the same lab in Sugar Land), there was never anyone in there. Just one worker, they took me right back, took one vile. Under 5 minutes total every time.

Call or email, but calling is probably faster. They respond very fast (results uploaded in 10 min and 30 min the two times we called.

My initial rapid Covid-19 test was negative, so I was curious if I actually had it. I presumed that I had it because my daughter tested positive.

Thanks. I called and they loaded the results right in.

Hi Dubi,

Thank you for your participation in Texas CARES!

The Texas Coronavirus Antibody Response Survey (CARES) seeks to understand the antibody response to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) by providing up to 3 free antibody blood tests over a period of 6 months.

We do not have any other long-term programs. However, we are currently extending our program to up to 6 tests over a 15 month period. Your participation past this point would be greatly appreciated! Our goal is still to learn more about the antibodies (what their presence and associated quantities mean), so additional data collection will be extremely valuable in this effort.

Hubby who is a hospital based RN.

I guess he had Covid many months ago and was asymptomatic? Vaccinated with moderna in Jan/Feb.

was also negative for IgG antibodies with Abbott IgG assay in May 2020. So seems like I haven't been infected yet

Thanks for this link. Both the husband and I got our first draws this week, results pending. There were others in the waiting area for the study. Seems to be pretty popular!

Talk me through this, I need someone to make sense of it. I'm sure I'll miss some details so be patient with me.

I'm unvaccinated and a participant in the study. My first antibody study was March and was negative, zeroes across the board, barely registered.

Last week on Wednesday I have a runny nose, then moves to my throat. Almost as if no matter how much I was trying to keep my nose clear, it still progressed. Both of my kids had a similar runny nose earlier in the week and were already over it. By Friday I have a dry cough and my throat hurts.

I finally have time for my second antibodies test, swing by to get my blood drawn first thing last Friday morning. I put up with the symptoms because I think it's allergies. Saturday I have to dispose of an old fence, load it up in the trailer, make a dump run, nose is still running but getting better. Throat is still sore, minor dry cough. Wife and I discuss the possibility of Covid. I make a comment that this is more of an inconvenience and I'm no where near going to a hospital, still think it's allergies.

Just to be safe, I use push health to get an Ivermectin script, D3, C, and Zinc. Sunday rolls around, symptoms are persistent but improving. I get a positive Covid test Sunday afternoon at urgent care. By Monday, I feel great, still a runny nose, but nothing to worry about, common for me and allergies. Wife picks up an at home test kit and shows negative by Wednesday evening.

Call the lab this morning to get the results uploaded into the portal from last Friday, still nothing, barely even registers.

How likely is it that I had a false positive? Or is this really what all the fuss is about? How can I be 100% certain I had Covid? Akin to an x-ray for a broken arm, I want there to be no doubt.

TIA, sorry for the paragraph.

Antibodies are IgG and usually take ~3 weeks to generate enough for a lab to pick up a positive.

And yes you have/had COVID with your recent "allergies".

I don't know where you are but in Aggieland pollen has been stable and only grass for a few months so having new allergy symptoms with no new allergens would be very odd.
