This is now basically a game day conversation. I'm about ready for them to put in the third string lab tech. I swear, they aren't even working the bench right now and just letting those tubes run the show!

5 days is bs. If u drew today, you will know the next day ( 2 days tops).
For reference, my wife, daughter, and myself had draws in feb, may, and August. 8 came in 24 hours, and one (my wife's first) took 2 days.

Just make sure you have your account set up on there website (link by third coast, page 1 I think) so you can see the detailed numbers. Otherwise you will only get a positive/negative test.

And to review, spike protein number is vaccine and Covid, and the sar-cov-2 or whatever they use is Covid.
So if you had Covid, you will have values for both. If you only had vaccine and no Covid, you will only have spike protein number. Both, and you will have higher numbers on both.

Me, wife, two daughters all vaxxed with pfizer. Two had covid as well (wife mid-January, daughter unknown... unsymptomatic or minimally symptomatic... only know due to 1st draw antibody early Feb).

Three of us are in the study, but my needle-phobic daughter declined. She tested positive for Covid Saturday (1st symptoms Sunday after Austin concert Wednesday which is where she caught it). Me (vax but never covid) negative. Other daughter (previous covid, plus vax) that was in confined car with her M/T/W is negative. Wife (vax and covid Jan 2020) no results yet, but will be negative.

Just throwing this out there for info, that obviously a Feb. Pfizer vax can still contact covid (was mild... stuffy nose, fatigue, and later loss of smell, which prompted test).
It will take about 3-4 weeks for the natural infection antibodies to flip positive. It should also bump your spike proteins though will be interesting to see.

Got my test results in... Finally.

Interesting as I had tested positive for antibodies until October of last year.. First shot of Pfizer was 8/27, which explains the Spike positive result.

Got mine back.

Pfizer shot in March 2021.
Spike Protein 1064 still. Still high.

Natural Antibodies. None

I'm in the same boat Jack. Had in Mid July. Received my antibody results back and they didn't seem that high. Would like to entertain getting a boost from a vaccine, but now sure how long to wait and if it's worth doing?

Until there is some real data showing reinfections are occurring at something other than 1 in a million odds i will not get vaccine. On top of that I'm pretty sure of the reinfections that have occurred the symptoms are less severe than the first infection. I barely even noticed my first infection. Likely would not even notice it the 2nd time.
Most of the data indicates that the possibility of reinfection does exist. The Israeli study indicated its more like 1 in 1,000 and the Ohio study found something like 0.67% of people tested positive again.

It appears that there is some disagreement over how long an individual can still test positive after initial infection. Most think it is > 90 days but it could be more with certain individuals. Most people don't take tests again after initial infection - primarily because if reinfection does occur. the symptoms are almost always milder. A few people have died from reinfection but they were sever covid cases first go around and elderly with comorbidities (based on the studies).

Most of the information out there hints at long-lasting and durable immunity but there is debate as to how long that may be... I think it is enough to keep me off the vaccine for now but am closely following the data and information in the event that it changes.
But what about when your employer requires it to come back to the office? I wouldn't get it either except now I have to either test every week or get the shot. They do not consider antibodies a substitute for the shot.

Will definitely be curious to see how high that number pushes to after the 2nd dose.

Which is why I have really big problem with the mandates... the data indicates that you're significantly less likely to be reinfected and spread the virus than someone who has just been vaccinated (with no previous infection) or someone without the vaccine. I think proof of a previous positive covid test should be an acceptable alternative but I still don't like mandating employees to produce "papers". However, that's a company's right to do so if they choose.

It is extremely frustrating but I fortunately don't have an employer that is mandating this. I have clients that are starting to do this but I intend on holding out as long as I can.

Just got my first blood draw - 8/31; 5:00pm

Moderna 2nd shot 2/26 so I'm right at 6 months.

No positive tests or known exposures.

Results were online this morning when I woke up - 9/1; 7:00am

SARS-CoV-2 TOTAL Ab, S protein
POSITIVE
>2500

SARS-CoV-2 Total Ab, N protein
NEGATIVE
0.0

So at the 6 month point, am I right to interpret this as strong vaccine response?

Just got my result. 50 year old male. Had Covid July 2020. Mild symptoms, headache, cough, felt run down for couple days.

Edit: I did not get the vaccine

Spike protein 218

Total Antibodies 101

I keep noticing that people's numbers for Total Antibodies are very small or negative if you have been infected and also vaccinated. Those that are only infected have larger Total Antibodies. Is there something about the vaccine that reduces Total Antibodies?

Spike Protein test is often higher with the vaccine as you would expect, but the Total Antibodies appears to be strange.

Got my results. 40 year old, had Covid Jan 2021
No vaccine
Positive on all tests
Spike protein 56.1
Total antibodies quantitative: 66.9

Is this a good immune response?

Honestly, we have no idea. Antibodies are only one part of the immune system. The memory cell immunity is a big factor but is something that's harder to test for. Since you've had a natural infection and are positive on all tests I think it's a decent assumption that you are far less likely to have a severe reaction to a future exposure, at least to a similar coronavirus.

Moderna #2 1/29/2021- Spike protein 1638

0 natural antibodies which is frankly shocking. I have been at work non stop with sick and COVID + patients. I have flown, gone to concerts, gone to Busch Gardens Tampa, not very careful with masking outside of office visits.

I am not going to consider a booster for a good while, probably retest around Christmas to get a trend.

I got Pfizer number two the first week of Feb. I'm sitting at just over 500.

I have no clue what this means. I assume it's enough for now. Might consider the booster considering I do have some risk factors and get exposed constantly.

Apparently now I'm one of the designated charge nurses on one of the Covid units (no one asked me). Last few weeks has been a lot of fun.

500 is plenty. Kinda like me get another one in a few months so you can try to figure out your rate of decline.

I did mine Tuesday. Talking to to lady at the lab, she said typically turn around time is 2 days. Some people get next day and other can take up to 5 days to post up results.

I got mine the morning after my test. Text message first, which gave positive for both results and had to wait on the portal.

Took mine yesterday for the antibodies via the vaccine. I was surprised to see my levels were so high considering I got my second shot in Jan. Haven't been sick since this began. I'm wondering if I got an asymptomatic infection at some point.

AB level: 1902

I enrolled and got my results. Really don't know what to make of the numbers - there really isn't guidance at least that I've seen.

I know that's part of the objective of the study. I guess it confirms no previous infection is detected. 2nd Moderna 2/23.

This test tells you if you had wild infection. If your antibody N is 0 you have no natural infection.

I didn't do this through the Texas CARES study. Just through my local lab. They were only looking at my antibody levels with respect to the vaccine if I understand it correctly.

So would I need another test to determine if I have a natural infection or does this test alone tell If I did or didn't have one?

Signed up through the study, just did my first test Tuesday.

34, Male, not vaxxed yet, confirmed positive test in Jan 2021 with mostly mild symptoms. Nausea, exhausted for about a week and no taste/smell for 4 weeks.

Total spike 101
Total Antibodies 34

Spike protein comes from natural infection and vaccine so no way to know from that single test. Vaccinated people only make spike protein because that is the protein the mRNA vaccine tells your ribosomes to make. You generate envelope or natural with wild infection only.

Did a test through Labcorp instead of the TX study.

Natural infection Dec 2020 - relatively mild symptoms except for tachycardia on day 7/8 when pulse never dropped below 105 bpm for ~24 hrs. Fever spiked at ~4F over normal baseline the same day. Lost taste/smell for almost a month.

  • No vaccines prior to or after infection
  • Cov-2 Semi-Quant Total AB: 770
  • Spike Ab Interp: Positive

Fairly certain I was exposed to several folks in the past 30-45 days who were likely (but unconfirmed) to have had Delta. I felt off a for a couple days after the first significant exposure; diarrhea, but no fever, no loss of taste/smell, etc. Could have just been a weak stomach bug, but symptoms I felt were similar to what I felt at very beginning of infection in Dec. Who knows because I didn't get tested either time.

Regardless, I'll take my antibody levels and rest easy with my decision to tell my employer to kiss my ass when it comes to their vaccine requirement.
