Agreed, I know several people in camps where kids got it and were 18+, a few 14-15. With schools I think elementary will be okay and most middle schools. High schools seem like they are going to have a few outbreaks which is going to be the most difficult to deal with.

Anecdotally if the basketball courts, soccer fields and Andy's ice cream are any indication, its working its way through the teenage population right now.

A friend of mine just took his kid to Summer camp. His entire family got it and 80+ kids at the camp. The spread it for sure.
Here?

Thanks for the link but like many news articles with this pandemic it has no information about age of patients, severity, hospitalization, etc.

Annoying. I wish journalist would include some details but alas it is rare.

If you want to see the typical things we have to do for a normal situation, go look up the Minimum Standards for Child Care Center for Texas. It will break down when we have to wash hands, how we clean etc.

If you want to see what they are recommending for schools and daycares to do now, go to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/guidance-for-schools.html.

Texas A&M Agrilife Extension also has some required training that we are having to do for Covid. I am recommending it for my public school teacher friends.
Great information! Thanks!
We haven't received anything from my district yet. I know that doesn't mean they aren't preparing, but I like to be prepared. I'll definitely read through this.

New statement from the American Academy of Pediatricians:
"Returning to school is important for the healthy development and well-being of children, but we must pursue re-opening in a way that is safe for all students, teachers and staff," the AAP said in a statement. "Science should drive decision-making on safely reopening schools."

You can ask the dad about him and his kid in the summer camp thread.

It's amazing to me how people listen to only what they want to hear. They will look past the majority of evidence that says one thing and pay attention to the one or few articles that prove their narrative...

Ok, 82 cases. What was the impact on the children and staff? More or less than influenza, or some other communicable disease we deal with on a regular basis? I'm legitimately asking, although the data I have seen so far suggests it's "just a cold" for people under age 20. And yes, people in that age group can die of a cold, or of influenza, as I am sure they can of Covid 19 - but it's at a rate that is negligible and that we seem to normally accept as a society. The NY state age data I saw suggests even kids who die in that age group have other issues like diabetes, heart issues, even stroke. Can we consider protecting those at risk groups among the kids, protecting elderly or at risk staff (that may be a challenge given the numbers), etc?

This approach would work in a perfect world. The problem is we have people that would adhere to the said plan and idiots that wouldn't. So then you're stuck with not infecting the at risk and the idiots that don't care. That's why the state of Texas is on fire right now. If people would just practice a bit of distancing we can stay the f***open. Instead you have a bunch idiots that just say f*** it I don't care and party their face off when the gov say we're open.

Or protest.
