Meteorology must be the easiest degree plan at A&M because we always have 20-30 post on here when bad weather approaches.

lol yeah there are a lot of armchair meteorologists. I mostly follow it as a hobby now despite my background in it.

Ok, I have question for the group:

Wife is supposed to travel to Dallas and return tomorrow. She could catch a flight returning to Houston tomorrow at 5:00 pm, but could also take the Von Lane bus getting back to town tomorrow night at 9:30 pm.

Would anyone here let their significant other make either of those travel arrangements? Or is the rain not supposed to really hit until Saturday?

I wouldn't say a lot. There's only three of us at our annual get together.

If those are the two choices, take a flight back at 5:00pm. There are hotels to stay in at the airport if there is heavy rain and the plane will be diverted if there is any danger. Being on a bus really limits the choices you can make if things get dicey. But I wouldn't make that trip tomorrow.

5pm tomorrow should still be fine for us, from everything I've read.

Spreadsheet, my understanding is nothing flooded in Huntwick during Allison.

Now an oak tree fell on my garage during Ike and we were out of the house for 7 weeks but we were dry.

Colorado County is projected to get 50+ inches
Seriously? When is the last time ANYWHERE in TX got 50+ inches of rain.
It's never happened in recorded history, but then nothing about this storm is traditional or regular. If this has a worst case scenario, 50 inches may be possible in some areas. A tropical storm parking itself for 5 days over an area like what this storm may do will be catastrophic and would shatter rainfall records. A widespread 3 to 4 feet of rainfall with isolate areas over 4 feet is simply unprecedented. This could be a 10,000 year flood event if the worst case scenario happens.

FWIW, Alvin got between 45-50 in. of rain in, I believe, 1979, from one tropical storm.
At least used to be a US record.

What is there to be nervous about? Either it is safe to fly and she makes it or she is delayed. Have a drink, the weather is out of your control.

Nervous about what? Her flight will most likely get cancelled, and she'll ride the storm out in Florida.

Good call. I reckon it'll pan out. More or less concerned about the flooding from ITL to Bush
