UNLV transfer RHP Jase Evangelista commits to Aggie baseball
Pitching. Pitching. Pitching.
On Sunday, former UNLV right-hander Jase Evangelista announced that he will transfer to Texas A&M to continue his collegiate career for the Fightin' Texas Aggies.
Originally from Riverside, Calif., Evangelista is the second pitcher to commit to the Maroon & White during the current portal window as Michael Earley & Co. attempt to overhaul a staff that owned a 5.24 ERA.
Interestingly, he verbally committed to Texas Tech via his Instagram page on June 5, but Evangelista had a change of heart and will be an Aggie instead.
As a junior in 2026, the 6-foot-2 and 200-pounder appeared in 19 games for the Rebels, building a 4-1 record with a 6.17 ERA in 46.2 innings pitched. He struck out 64 batters and walked only 18 while holding opponents to a .282 average against.
Prior to his time in Vegas, Evangelista made 21 total relief appearances with two starts for Washington, pitching in both the Pac-12 and Big Ten during the Huskies’ transition to the latter. In 40 career games at the Division I level, he is 6-3 with a 6.61 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 80.1 innings pitched.
During his prep career at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, he was ranked as the No. 116 right-handed pitcher in the class of 2023 by Perfect Game.
As A&M continues to address the pitching staff, Evangelista is the fourth overall portal addition this summer.
