I truly believe even if he wasn't given the bunt sign he would've put it down. Man that was such an important play.

Im not looking, and Im sure that AI will help, but the cycle-warning for Sorrell got me thinking...

The announcers mentioned 2022, was that Zach DeLoach the the last to hit for the cycle?

I believe it was Ryan Targac.

DeLoach hit for the cycle in 2018, I just thought it was more recent than that.

me:

I totally forgot it was Mal's best bud, Ryan.

I know this doesn't count in the discussion, but Shew did it in the minors, so I thought I'd post it here with the "Aggie related" tag.

Any love I can put up for Shew is good for me.

A Zane musing:

Im not sure with COTY, but he definitely deserves some absolute credit, for sure. This series was a piecemeal gathering from a bullpen (or heck, just a pitching) perspective and the Aggies were able seize the moment and take a series from a very good and well-balanced ballclub.

I dont think any conventional coach would have made the moves that Earley did in this game, but he made it work and we send another top 20 team, angling for a national seed with a series win, home with a chapped ass and looking from the outside in. That's pretty good, if you ask me.

I do not agree with Zane and Brauny on this one.

UGA was picked to finish 9th and is going to run away with the league, just as Johnson should run away this this award.

That's not at all a slight to ME. He greatly exceeded expectations.

Fair enough, our team gave up a 13 spot in the 3rd inning of game 1. The game was completely over.

And the Aggies took the series. You have to give coaching a lot of bit of credit here.

No one had any idea what we would do in terms of arms to clinch the rubber match, probably not even coach ME, but somehow we did it and we won. You have to give credit where it's due sometimes.

Yes

It should be the Georgia coach. We were picked so low bc we sucked so bad last year and we should not have been that bad. Not sure we should get bonus points for that one. Zane's favoritism is not even letting him see that his argument is actually counterintuitive.

This wasn't about only this weekend. It was an argument for SEC Coach of the Year, which means the entire season. No idea what you are intending to say / argue here.

We agree, it's not worth punching it out, unless you want to. My point is that we have done better than we should have, on paper. Not looking for any friendly-fire here.

COTY isn't decided in a vacuum. In most years ME probably does have a case. It's really weak this particular year with UGA picked 9th and running away with the title.

Zane (and Brauninger's) argument of "we were picked 13th" argues against itself. Earley and his failures last year are THE reason we were picked so low. He is doing what we expected of last year.
Credit to Earley for being much much improved last year. The guy can absolutely coach hitting the baseball and has made big strides in his gameday decision making. He has full buy in of this team and his future is a lot brighter than it was 3 months ago. His job should be completely secure at this point, but COTY? Their attachment to the program is showing

I don't see any way we don't get a top 8. Never got swept. OneTwo series loss to GA & AU at Olsen. Three road series wins. 18 SEC wins. 2-0 against tu. No way we are lower than an 8 seed. Possibly as high as 6 with a tournament win.

6 would be great, but haven't seen that as a possibility from anyone. If UGA sweeps AU & AU goes 1 & done in Hoover, maybe. Same w/tu I would think.

Good points. However, I think we had a DSR of 7 before the Friday win over MS St. That certainly will not drop and could reasonably improve to 6 now. We will see, but I don't think a national seed of below 8 will happen.
I hate tu. It's in my blood.
