"310 to Yuma" reference? Except it's "morals" instead of "deserves". Luke Wilson's character about the miners torturing Ben Wade (russell crowe). lol

Way too much talent on this team to be wasting on this rudderless ship. After last year's futility, I was amazed that Earley pulled this much talent together. It's not likely to happen again after another disappointing season.

I somewhat agree with this offensively because I feel like our coached approach at the plate has limited the talent of our hitters. But we don't have SEC arms. I don't know how many times it has to be said. We just don't. They just don't have the stuff to get outs against these lineups.

That's on the head coach as well. Right?

Yes. I would absolutely agree with that. I just don't think anyone should be surprised by what we're seeing these past two weeks.

I can't believe he wasn't fired last year, it was very evident he's not the guy.

Some of our most well known posters and season ticket holders were against it. And they are noticeably absent from this thread.

Hitting is equally as bad as pitching…… if not worse.

Should have been fired last year as he's in over his head. Didn't think he recruited that well besides a couple players, but whiffed on pitching as almost didn't go after pitching when team is lacking top notch arms/depth. Still seeing same batting issues of over-swinging vs contact and putting the ball in play.

Doesn't matter as Trev has put himself in a corner on this front and didn't listen when told (granted didn't land Tony V, but gave up on other choices due to players who don't know).

I'm here. I was OK with the call last year and we'll see how this year goes. If he's not the guy, he's not the guy but right now he's the guy.
Asking who the "worst" posters are on TexAgs is like asking which jalapeño at a tailgate is the hottest, it depends entirely on who you ask and how much "maroon-tinted" Kool-Aid you've had that day.

Correct. I remember the thread last spring by a major TA poster who posted about keeping Earley.

At least tickets on the secondary market are reasonable again. Thanks to all those absent, and you too Coach Earley.

He is going to be fired shortly after the season is over.

We aren't expected to finish the top of the SEC every year, but being in the basement two years in a row isn't exactly going to cut it either.

People need to quit acting like 2024 was the standard, it was an outlier. However getting swept, losing the majority of conference series, and getting run ruled by any team isn't going to fly.

And the t.u. series went EXACTLY how I expected it to go...sadly...I couldn't believe the bravado of everyone who was looking forward to that. They just hadn't been around long enough to understand the mental history of Aggie baseball.

I'm not surprised in the least. In the preseason expectations thread I specifically stated our starting pitching would be having a drastic drop off.

It's time for Texas A&M to move on from Coach Earley. A&M baseball has too many resources, too much talent, and too strong a tradition to be stuck in neutral.

Coaches to Consider:
  • Rob Vaughn
  • Alex Sogard
  • Pat Hallmark
  • Jeff Mercer
  • Billy O'Connor
  • Dan Heefner

I agree that making the CWS finals cannot be the standard for any program. Even if you make it to the dance, there's too many variables. But 2022 and 2023 collectively are more like it - one trip to Omaha and the next year returning to the postseason. Given our resources it isn't too much to ask for 14 postseason appearances every 15 years. Childress even had a similar streak during his time here.

2025 cannot happen again. I'm talking, no more repeats of the Mizzou series. That was embarrassing.

Our pitching staff is just feeble. Where did he hire Kelly? In the parking lot at Golden corral? With so many talented players not playing up to their potential it's got to be the coaching. I guess we will live through this season and start over. Another extremely important hire to be made.

Just surreal that we lost that championship and the only thing that came out of it was paying championship premiums after. Aggie baseball became the hottest ticket in town with 3 digit prices to watch them play cupcakes even. Thankfully the enema that is this season has nature correcting itself.

Scratch Billy O'Connor. One good season, pretty meh aside from that. Not a fan of Hefner's style. Works well at DBU, doubt it'll recruit well in the SEC. Plus he seems like too much of a "nice guy" and not enough of a firey competitor.

Add Cliff Gowin to the list. Yes, he's an ECU alum, but reports seem to indicate he'd be gettable. ECU has a ceiling, and he's a good coach who could do more with better resources.
