He absolutely should be IF he is interested. You have to make that phone call and they probably already have. He's been there 20 yrs, 17 as hc so he may not want to leave. You know he has to have had opportunities . He wins every yr and he has consistently done well with probably 1/1000th of our resources . He clearly knows how to find players and field a highly competitive team. His record should be enough to keep the core in place. He probably has ideas on how to plug holes and he has the credibility to convince guys they should stay

Skip Johnson would be an excellent hire.

He's done a great job at a school with TERRIBLE facilities and very little importance placed on baseball.

He could be a homerun hir, pun intended, certainly it would be a very good hire.

He has been the HC for 7 seasons. During that time he made the post season 4 times (one of the 3 he didnt make was the COVID season). Of those 4 times, he got out of regionals once- in 2022, when they were the runner up. His win average is .599. .569 in conference play in the BDF.

Childress, at TAMU, was .657. He missed the post season just 3 times in 16 seasons (2006 - his first season, COVID canceled season, and 2021- his last season). He made CWS twice, and super regionals 6 times (4 times ended there and the twice onto Omaha). That comes out to roughly 3 times per 7 years if you want to compare it to Skip.

Skip Johnson is Childress, but maybe not as consistent.

And to my point- he has done what Stoops did. He has been mediocre with flashes of brilliance at a school that doesn't place a lot of emphasis on the sport he coaches.

Just because he has done "okay" with **** resources doesn't mean he will do great with big resources.

We were going to pay Schloss $3M - at least Sully has skins on the wall. Give him the offer we had ready for Schloss.

he knows how to work the transfer portal and assemble elite talent

(obviously did not work in the postseason this year)

Tom Walters at WF, Scott Forbes at UNC and Skip Johnson at OU are likely our top choices.

He's reportedly turned down a lot of offers and is happy at DBU. He was a prominent name three years ago before we hired Schloss.

Heefner's name usually gets brought up anytime there is a big Texas hire. My understanding is that he is really comfortable in the private school world.

Not sure he is really looking to leave DBU

The comments on that are great

Don't care. Make the call. Sell him. Make him tell you no.

The word three years ago was he wanted to coach at a faith based institution where his values wouldn't be constrained. I don't think he will leave DBU although he sounds like the antithesis of Schlossnagle.

I'm all in for the Louisville coach

For what it's worth neither Johnson or McDonnell are on Kendall's list
