It seems that unlike other years when they essentially pair off SEC teams vs SEC teams in the Supers, there is a possibility for 8 SEC teams to make it to Omaha.

All 3 NS ACC teams have a 2 seed SEC team at their regional.

This may be the year the SEC finally puts more than 4 teams into the CWS. The conference has 5 of the top 8 national seeds, plus a hot LSU team with no other SEC team standing in their way on the road to Omaha.

Beyond those 6 spots, you have Alabama and either Vandy or Florida who could make it. I'm not sure I see any of those teams as Omaha teams this year, but you never know.

I know LSU will be a trendy upset pick in the regionals, but I firmly believe they will only win at Chapel Hill if they win their first 2 games. If they have to double dip UNC to advance, they'll be going home for good. They might even be toast if they don't go 3-0.

ESPN broadcasting assignments: the Ags draw Roy Philpott and Xavier Scruggs.

Solid team. Although I'm sure some on TexAgs will think they're rooting for Grambling on Friday.

Interesting that Stillwater gets what I consider to be the #1 team. Knoxville is probably #2...

But the real #1 is absolutely Burke, Roones, Schick and Budden on Squeeze Play. That's where I'll be parked when not in the stadium.

I think it makes perfect sense for Hart and KP to be in Stillwater. When the dust settled yesterday, I thought Stillwater would be the most competitive regional of the bunch. Easily the least predictable IMO.

Considering about 18% of US households have an ESPN+ subscription and hardly any of our games have been on it this year, I'm guessing quite a bit.

I have all the major channels, SEC Network, and SECN Alternatives. I don't have ESPN+. Guess I'm not watching us play for like the 5th time this year.

Just buy it for a month. It's worth it for the postseason (and the regular season, honestly).

This. I buy it in May for the late season run in other conferences, their tournies, and this weekend. It's already canceled and ends June 4th. Best $8 of 2024.

And many people still don't know the difference between ESPN+, SECN+, and ESPN streaming. So. That'll be fun.

If you have ESPN thru cable, you get ESPN+ for free streaming. Maybe I'm wrong. IDK.

I think it's less than $10/month and you can cancel in a month.

Nope. ESPN+ is a stand alone subscription service. It's not expensive, and well worth it if you want to follow the baseball tournament. Sign up for a month and cancel if you want to watch your spending.

You're wrong. ESPN+ is a streaming only sub bundled with Hulu and Disney+. My favorite sub for $12.

ESPN+ is really an odd duck because you could sign up for that, and not have access to the linear channels at all (no cable, no satellite, no comprehensive streaming platform like YouTubeTV or Hulu). Rather unusual in the current environment.

We have everything in our house. Cable, everything you can stream, etc. I am sure we could save money. But I like knowing I can watch whatever i want to watch one way or another.

The first couple of years I feel like there were way more simulcast events in attempt to launch EPSN+. However, with ESPN continuing to lose linear subscribers and direct-to-consumer adoption mainstream elsewhere (and ESPN's future imo) they continue to push more and more to Plus only.

I always wanted a la carte programming, but it's pretty clear us sports nuts are the ones taking it on the chin in the current revolution. What we had was really good.

Yep. Having granny pay $5 per month to ESPN through her cable subscription made ESPN rich. And for all those thinking the future would be a la carte, bundles are back, they just include less and cost more.
RED AG 98
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, the future is things like the just announced Comcast StreamSaver Bundle or Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle. Both really good deals on their own, depending on which platforms have stuff you want to watch.

But the current players are content owners and creators, unlike the more neutral cable distributors... so of course none will have the mixmatch of stuff that the cable bundles were able to carry. Sigh...

We had Fubo for Ballys, which didn't have TNT, so we added Max for the NCAA tourney. Now we've kept Max for the NBA playoffs. Have ESPN+/Disney/Hulu for sports, and also have Prime and Netflix. I don't even remember how I get SECN+, if it's through Fubo or ESPN+, maybe both.

My problem is that I get virtually everything now, pay through the teeth for it, and can't ever find it come game time. I end up launching 5 different apps on 3 different devices to find my game. On top of that, ESPN+ is the glitchiest piece of crap I've ever used.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

I've had ESPN+ since it launched and not had a problem. For me it's the best bargain in sports TV because I watch college baseball and basketball that's only carried there before and after our games.
RED AG 98
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think when most people say they have an ESPN+ problem, they are talking about some kind of issue with the ESPN app or ESPN website, and nothing to do with ESPN+ at all. I think most are griping about ESPN streaming in general -- be it SEC+ or ESPN or ESPN+ -- and more specifically the apps on their devices rather than ESPN+ the service.

In my mind, these are 3 very separate things (ESPN app, ESPN+ OTT, ESPN linear networks), and I really have no complaints for any of them. Of course I'm an Apple snob and Apple TV is still by far and away the best smart TV streamer, but it's nearly flawless and has been for a decade.

I have recent, occasional glitch when a game on a linear channel gets extended and we get moved to an alternate channel. This has happened maybe two or three times this year but wasn't a problem before that. I also don't view this as an ESPN+ issue; it's either the app itself or the broadcast team or maybe the production folks at the ballpark.

We have the Disney+/Hulu/espn+ bundle. When I pull up espn+ to look for it, it says I need to subscribe. But when I pull up Hulu, it appears I can pull it up there. Just says "content isn't available right now, but will be soon"

The ESPN app isn't great. Constantly logs us out and sometimes hard to find the game. I've taught my 82 year old sports nut mother how to delete and reinstall when it locks up.

During the softball last week Amanda gave a good explanation why you can't tell where the pitch is from the offset center field camera. I laughed while reading the posts from those umpiring from the couch.

What was the explanation?

I was listening on the radio and Matt Simon said his vantage point was off to the side and he was having a hard time determining where the pitches were.
