I'm surprised we're starting Jake Brown in CF again. After Cam Johnson, he was the prize recruit of the freshman class, but hasn't quite lived up to that billing so far. I guess Jay is hoping that he'll bloom like Ashton Larson did with enough playing time.
Paxton Kling was supposed to be the guy for us in CF this year, and it just hasn't happened. He's a five-tool guy that was a shock to get to campus, but he just struggles to hit at this level. I think the pressure of having to replace Dylan Crews is really getting to him. He also seems to struggle simply seeing the ball. Could be an eyesight issue. Now he's primarily a pinch runner/defensive replacement guy.
Mack Bingham seems to be in Jay's doghouse or he's dealing with an injury. He started almost every game until recently, but his lack of hitting for average has been disappointing. So that's why Jake Brown is getting a shot.

We will ride Luke Holman for as long as possible. He gets so many strikeouts that it drives his pitch count up sometimes, and he isn't an alien like Skenes was. So Jay will try to get 5-6 good innings from him then use our best remaining bullpen guys after Griffin Herring. It will probably be guys like Guidry, Hellmers, and Little. But you might even see a wildcard like Moffitt or Cam Johnson, who is unhittable but also struggles to throw strikes.
I have no idea who we can even pitch tomorrow, if Nate Ackenhausen is injured, which is the word on TigerDroppings. That leaves a bunch of bad options. Maybe Jay tries Kade Anderson again, but I don't think he's ready to face your lineup. Or maybe we take a chance on Thatcher Hurd and hope by some miracle the June version of him from last year shows up. No matter what, we're at a huge disadvantage in Game 3, so we will empty the chamber tonight to win the series and hope for a miracle tomorrow.
As a side note, this LSU team really should be banned from bunting. They completely suck at it. I knew Milazzo was gonna pop up his bunt in the 3rd inning last night the moment he squared up. I get that all of these guys never bunt in high school or travel ball because they were all stud players, but how can not a single one of these guys learn how to do it in college? Jay needs to dig up some Augie Garrido bunting lessons or something. It drives me crazy.
