That's what one of the Aggie baseball accounts said. I'm just reporting what I read.

Tucker good enough for the Red Sox...not good enough to...okay

a bit unusual to have a bench player drafted

A college coach is concerned about winning now. MLB Draft is about selecting players that might develop down the road.

Tucker is not the first player to not get a lot of playing time while in Aggieland to get drafted nor is he likely to be the last.

This is pretty cool...

With the shortened draft in 2020, only 9 schools had 3 or more picks in that draft. That alone probably bumped a few programs off of that list.

Isaac Morton was selected by the Brewers in the 19th as well. Actually beat out Pagliarini to be the first recruit taken.

Brauny said in premium that Morton will not sign and will report to campus. Jury is still out on Pagliarini.
Brauny is leaning towards Pagliarini signing. Everyone is holding their breath on this one; it would be a big blow after an otherwise great draft for the Aggies.

Looking ahead to next year's draft...are any of our Freshman from this year old enough to be draft eligible sophomores after next season? (I know Kaufer isn't since he should have just graduated high school). Mostly I am thinking about Jace, Sdao, & Lampkin who contributed a bunch this year.

Draft Eligible Sophomores for the 2024 MLB Draft:

  • Kasen Well (he is transferring to a JUCO the last I heard)
  • Ty Sexton
  • Lucas Kelly

I'm guessing the 2024 MLB draft will be the same Sunday-Tuesday setup before the All-Star game (this year's all-star game was the 11th and next year's is the 16th) which would push back the age requirement from an August 21st birthdate to an August 27th birthdate if based on the first day of the draft. I have never seen evidence on what "date" constitutes "turns 21 within 45 days of the draft" - is it the first date or the last date of the draft?

If the latter, then both Kaeden Kent and Cameron Donley would both just be eligible as they both turn 21 on August 29th of 2024, the 45th day from the last day of the 2024 draft.

What do you mean? I always refer to a certain baseball team in LA as the Effin' Dodgers and one in NY as the Damn Yankees.

I was just on D1 and should point out that if Wells leaves for JUCO, both Sexton & Kelly are now in the portal, so there maybe none or Kent & Donley as draft eligible sophomore players next season.

Thanks for the replies.

Keeping all of our high school recruiting class in tack got me thinking ahead to 2025 a bit. I still think we can be very good next year too, but....Jace, Sdao, Lampkin, Kaufer as Juniors plus some of our top recruits from this year as sophomores, add in a few key players from the portal and some other players developing inside our program. I think we could be really good in 2025.

Losing Moss and Pagliarini hurts for next year...but I am really glad we are getting our top high schoolers to campus this year.

Several of his family members deleted their social media accounts too, think there is something else going on. Asking higher than his worth would be a good way to not get signed

A good buddy of mine pitched at tu and Tanner Witt is his nephew. He told me they basically put out that it would take $X to sign him in the 2020 draft or he'd go to Texas.

Clearly he didn't get that. It may end up costing a lot due to the TJ surgery and how he hasn't looked very good coming back. But he really needs another 6 months of work to be back to 100%.
Talked w/Kevin today, Tanner's dad. He was ready to pull his name BEFORE the draft. Felt like he wanted to get completely healthy & move back up the draft board.

Braves inquired late 3rd or 4th. They had a # they were at if offered. They had just finished working out at Spring Spirit when he got a call from the go between at tu. Kevin said they didn't have time to call & talk to ATL since the rounds were 2 min. Put it in God's hands.

tu will have a pretty good 1/2 next year w/Tanner & the Johnson, Jr. kid.

Haha. Truth. I have always enjoyed late night rounds because the nurses have time to chat and are more relaxed/friendly/uninhibited in their conversation than the day shifts. Many times, candid dialogue provides better patient info than numbers and scrawled notes on a chart. God bless nurses.

Agree. I did first year internal med residency at Ben Taub and St. Luke's. Lots of great conversations in the wee hours
